Does Hardy situation scare panthers away from Green-Beckham?

DGB has not been i trouble in a year. like i stated in the last DGB thread, he has had a tough upbringing, bouncing from foster homes, and group homes as a kid growing up. he has not had the structure of a house hold, which i think plays a major role into him getting into the poo that he did. is this an excuse, no. but considering he has not been into trouble since going to Oklahoma, maybe he understands now, and finally grew up.

the talent is worth the risk, if everything checks out. again, i tip my hat to Jerry Jones, for not allowing Dez to fail. give DGB the same treatment, hire a security team, that will drive, and stay with him 24/7 until he shows and proves he can handle himself to be alone.

with that being said, i would be surprised to see the panthers have any interest in him. panthers love nice guys, that play football.

Panthers draft the nice guys, ones they can be comfortable with when they watch the not so nice guys play in the Super Bowls. :)

No, the Rae Carruth situation did.

Ray Rice too.

The Ravens are reported to be 'reevaluating' their draft process now too.

It's not gonna happen guys. Whine all you want, but the team has always stayed away from guys with any history of violence, and that's not changing.

Believe it or not, there are some people who aren't willing to excuse violent behavior just because someone can play football.

That's a pretty moronic statement.

What a brilliant move by Richardson, just another reason he should keep his rearend out of the draft room.

Remind me. How many Super Bowl wins did Moss help his various teams win?

WIth how much you endlessly post about this, one would think you've never made a mistake of any kind in your life.

Who is making excuses for them? But you cannot lump college kids who have yet to have a chance to prove themselves in the NFL with the likes of Ray Rice, Rae Carruth, etc. Otherwise no one would get an opportunity to turn their lives around.

DGB just had a quick feature on NFL network. talked very little about off the field issues, but he did acknowledge that he would have to answer those questions about his off the field issues. his agent did too. i really wish him the best, and hopes he takes advantage of this opportunity. sky is the limit for him.

With the NFL trying so hard to maintain their BS corporate image, it's extremely risky proposition to draft anyone with potential off the field issues. Green-Beckham is a second rounder at best for that reason.

That being said, any owner action in the draft room is bad.

/Queue the "But he gave me muh franchise!" apologists.

I'm not one to judge a young kid on "youthful transgressions" but,i am of the thinking our brass might not want to deal with someone who has already been knocked for putting hands on a woman. We all know his baggage but could this one incident in particular already count against him with us because of hardy?

I don't think that Dave Gettleman has even the faintest desire to place another Josh Gordon (with additional potential domestic violence issues) on his roster.

This "kid" is 21 years old.  There are "kids" in Afghanistan 2 or 3 years younger than this guy who are carrying rifles and being leaders in squads and platoons and getting paid crap to do it.  GTFO with this "kid" garbage.

College age is apparently too young to know it's wrong to hit a woman.

Even people in tough situations have CHOICES in their life that only *they* are responsible for.

Read this article about an Auburn basketball player who also lacked "structure" in his family life (and considering the description of his childhood, probably had it TOUGHER than DGB):

Choices.

Give up in desperation.  Go with the flow of what all the other losers around you are doing.

Or MAKE SOMETHING OF YOUR LIFE other than the desperation you've known.

DGB always seems to take the "easy" (destructive) choice.

one strike and your out mentality around here. People deserve more than one chance at life. And yes I realize there are wonderful "kids" in the military that are leading other "kids" but war grows people up a lot faster than going to college will. Will he be a good fit here? I don't know but to throw a young kid's name on the floor because of past transgressions is and always will be silly.  I have never watched him play so I am not talking about skill as a player just hoping young kids can get a chance to mature before we (society) throw them away.

It's all about risk assessment! It has very little to do with anything else other than its his past behavior that goes into calculating the risk.

Simple question, as much of a talent as Josh Gordon and Blackmon are, can we deem them wasted picks?

Very much so!

With the salary cap, came an unbelievable pressure for rookies to contribute. Development days of grown short, both physically and mentally. With our failed drafting years in 2009-2012, we cannot afford risky players. Especially as everyone screams, "pay the man" when it comes Cam, Luke, and KK.

We need guys that will be on the field and not serving suspensions. We cannot afford to gamble on a possible Blackmon or Gordon 2.0 when we have large, gaping holes across the whole roster!

As a fan, give me a lesser(but still top shelf) talent that will always be on the field vs. the stud that may see the field 6 times in 3 years. That stud will be WASTED cap space and roster space!

But, but, but, but what if he gets it turned around? BUT what if he doesn't!
