Ice Storm...

I just went outside and the seen reminds of the Ice Storm back in 2002...  Everything is covered with a thick layer of ice and the slash is coming down hard and it will continue to do so for the next 5-7 hours until about 6am.  This can get really ugly...

Had to fly out of CLT at 5pm, just glad I was able to get out before the poo hit the fan. Ice was building up on the plane as we were waiting to depart, had to be de-iced which was like a giant car wash for a plane.

Hope it stays sleet as long as possible. Seen some forecasts of half an inch or more of ice across the south-central NC.

Just came back from outside... branches barely holding on. Four more hours of this and I'm sure some the trees will start coming down.  Went out for 5 minutes and when I got back my jacket and hat were iced...  Looks like slash turned into sticky ice.

I remember a nasty one back in like ... 96? Didn't have power for like five days down there.

And I was out of school for close to two weeks. Loved it at the time. Making up for the missed days sucked though.

idk if we're talking about the same one, but there was a really bad one here along the coast in '93.  No power for days, ice everywhere, below freezing for days... had to stay in a hotel for a week.

When I lived in Columbia SC, we had an ice storm in 1978 that was so bad, power was out for two weeks....no school, so it wasn't so bad. yeah it sucked.

Yeah, I was a sophomore in high school that year. Didn't get out of school until mid June (at a time when we usually got out the last week of May). Also I was on the basketball team; no school but we still had to make our way to games.

 

The ice storm in early 2003 was when my oldest son was only a few months old. Nobody within 20 miles of me had electricity or heat. Somehow my sister's neighborhood was spared, so we had to stay there for almost a week.
