Breshad Perriman, WR UCF

Todd McShay's Mock 4.0 came out today and he has Breshad Perriman going #14 overall, writing: "We haven't had Perriman going this early in our previous mocks, but we've seen two promising signs from him as we've gone through the evaluation process. 1.) His ball skills, which were something of a concern on his early-season tape, appeared to get better as the year wore on. His performance in UCF's bowl game against NC State was the best we've seen from him in terms of catching the ball. 2.) He verified the speed he flashes on tape with 4.24 and 4.27 40 times at his pro day last week."

His WR in the 1st R:

#3 Cooper

#7 White

#10 Parker

#14 Perriman

#16 DGB - "Based on talent alone, he's a top-3 WR in this class."

#26 Strong

It's very realistic that Cooper, White, Parker, Perriman and DGB are all gone by the time we pick. Last years WR class plays a role in that as well I believe.

Question is then, are Agholor or Smith worth a first round pick? Smith is good for a deep ball a game, that alone is almost worth a 1st round pick imo. He may not score 6 but if he sets you up to score 6 once a game that's huge.

I kinda doubt 5 receivers go before pick 25. KB at 28 was the 5th receiver taken and that class was stronger. All of Cooper, White, Parker, and Strong will likely be gone though, which is my biggest concern.

I think Strong will be there, and I really would not be surprised if Parker was too

MMQB/Peter King decided to do a mock draft to "put to use some things he heard last week at the league meetings." He says he won't be doing another mock until a few days before the Draft

he has Perriman going #18, writing: "Wouldn’t be shocked to see him go as high as 13 or 14, especially after running two sub-4.3 40s at his pro day. He’s getting tons of love in the scouting community."

No Malcom Brown, Arik Armstead, Phillip Dorsett in my first-

round mock. Have no idea if that’s smart or dumb. We’ll see

April 30.

interesting conversation from well before Perriman's Mar 25 Pro Day on how Perriman may be better than Kevin White:

I started studying WRs a couple weeks ago. Cooper's the best receiver IMO. His feet separate him.

Thought about this before -- is Breshad Perriman a more natural wide receiver than Kevin White? #NFLDraft

[big-time WR film guru] Fusue Vue @ lifesyourcup

Feb 20

Perriman more fluid, wider array of moves to get open.

Agree.

I'm in agreement. I've been

thinking White will be over-drafted some since the hype started

building.

Agree on White. I think many are hung up on his speed.

Might be a controversial statement, but in many ways WR

Breshard Perriman is what we want WR Kevin White to be but

don't always get.

@TR_Cyrus noticed this too on very small sample.

the Sports Illustrated analysts on Perriman:

"it's important to go back to the tape—and he doesn't always play to that (sub 4.3) speed (he was clocked with at the UCF Pro Day). That said, there's enough on the tape to make one wonder if..Perriman might not wind up as the best receiver in this draft class."

  • 2 weeks later...

Seven-year NFL veteran S Matt Bowen (30 starts for 3 teams, primarily at SS) on Breshad Perriman:

"tremendous upside because of his athletic ability... This guy is a freak... underdeveloped as a route-runner ... There are far too many missed opportunities and drops on the tape I've watched. ... Perriman needs some work ... Still, his size and speed are rare, so he should be in that second tier of receivers, after the first-round run on Cooper, Kevin White and DeVante Parker. Remember, you are drafting for upside with Perriman. He isn't a finished product."
