Nelson Agholor WR USC

Kid won't be there with our 2nd rounder.  If we want him, take him at #25 and see it much the way Carolina did last year at #28.  The cluster of receivers from last year included:

Benji

Robinson

Lee

Matthews

Latimer

Adams

Though not as many to consider at 28, there are a handful of guys that bring someting different to the table:

Strong

Agholor

Smith

DGB

Agholor and Smith are my faves for WR at 28.  Strong doesn't do it for me.  Stiff, can't separate from defenders and his game speed looks a little slow for me. Strong has his strengths - physical, tracking, & high pointing the ball, but I feel like we already have that with KB13.

Agholor's routes are a thing of beauty, he has no problem in traffic, has an extra gear to leave defenders in the dust, and is great in space. For me, this is the kind of WR we need between Benji and Olsen. Though Agholor might not be the 'sexy name' like Strong/DGB, he is an amazing fit for the Panthers.

Eric Rowe says the toughest WR match up for him this year was

Nelson Agholor . Played Devin Funchess, Jaelen Strong, Ty

Montgomery etc

I like Nelson Agholor better. But if Eagles take Strong I won't be mad.

What an internal debate I have trying to decide who I like best,

Jaelen Strong or Nelson Agholor? Can make strong arguments

for both

I'd take Nelson Agholor over Jaelen Strong every single time.

Agholor would EAT in this offense. #Eagles

[in reply to "if you were the Eagles would you go trade down in the draft a select Nelson Agholor taking a risk that he's there at 52"]

Him & Devin Smith are both 1st round WRs, IMO that may slide to round 2. Doubt either there at 52, though

Mayock: 2015 WR class has eight with 1st round grade

Mayock's new rankings:

Wide receiver

1. Kevin White, West Virginia

2. Amari Cooper, Alabama

3. DeVante Parker, Louisville

4. Breshad Perriman, Central Florida

T-5. Nelson Agholor, USC

T-5. Dorial Green-Beckham, Missouri

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000484234/article/mike-mayocks-2015-nfl-draft-position-rankings-30

"I've got eight wide receivers with potential first-round grades. Of those eight, I think six will go in the first round," Mayock said on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft." "Kevin White and Amari Cooper are both top 10 talents. I like White slightly higher."

Mayock also thinks those two, plus Louisville's DeVante Parker and fast rising UCF prospect Breshad Perriman, will be taken in the top 20 of the draft.

Mayock adds in Dorial Green-Beckham, whose off-the-field issues put his draft status in question

"Nelson Agholor from USC is perhaps the fastest riser in the entire draft," Mayock said. "He's an impeccable route runner who can play inside or outside. He has tremendous value as a punt returner."

in response to the stigma that surrounds USC WRs:

USC produced Hall of Fame WR Lynn Swann. Since Lynn Swann, there have only been 5 WRs from Power 5 conference schools that have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame:

Notre Dame (Tim Brown)

Ohio State (Cris Carter)

Miami (Michael Irvin)

Stanford (James Lofton)

Syracuse (Art Monk)

There haven't been any USC WRs taken in the 1st R in the last decade (last was 2005)

As for USC WRs taken in the 2nd R, there have only been 5 since the mid-80s. The only two that turned out to be busts were the two the Panthers took with Marty Hurney as our GM. So the only common denominator in USC WRs turning out to be busts is Marty Hurney. Hurney isn't our GM anymore.

USC WRs taken 2nd R since the mid-80s:

Marqise Lee, 2nd R 2014

2014 - one of the 4 WRs Bortles spread the ball to evenly along with

Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson and Cecil Shorts (and they let Shorts go, he's a Texan now)

Robert Woods, 2nd R 2013

2013 - Bills co-#1 WR with Stevie Johnson

2014 - Bills #2 WR alongside Sammy Watkins

Dwayne Jarrett, 2nd R 2007

bust

Steve Smith, 2nd R 2007

2008 - Giants co-#1 with Amani Toomer

2009 - Pro Bowl WR with 1,220 yds

2010 - Giants #3 WR

Keary Colbert, 2nd R 2004

bust other than his rookie year when he was our #2 WR
