Minnesota or Michigan. Grew up in NC and liked it but don't think I'd want to live there again. Much rather be in NC than where I am now but top choices would be Minnesota or Michigan.

Went out west a couple of years ago for a few weeks and we drove from SF to Sea up the coast.  Absolutely gorgeous country.

 

Visited Denver last year and the place has a really cool vibe to it.  Seems to have a lot of the perks of a major city without some of the things I dislike about the places like Mia, NY, and SF.

Hard to beat where I live, which is in central NC.

We have 4 distinct seasons, can be at the beach or mountains in a couple hours' drive, and are centrally located along the east coast and I95. People are generally nice and neighborly, and there is a lot NC brings to the table in terms of business and economic encouragement.

 

There's lots I wouldn't miss if I moved away, but I don't know that there would be a better place, unless it was somewhere off the grid out west, or the Pacific northwest.

I have been to forty one states and the best by far is CO. After that NC, MT, NV, NH. I love UT but could never live there
