League files motion for Hardy's evidence

I think Hardy has a legitimate case to sue the NFL for Defamation of Character and Devaluation of his NFL value. Any lawyers reading this? Would Hardy have a case?

I'm not a lawyer but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express once back in 2010. I definately don't see a legit case.

To date, NFL sat back and let the legal process play out and paid Hardy his millions. NFL has done nothing to Hardy. Zilch.

Only person Hardy would have a case against is the chick.....and he just paid her off. So that is out the window

Hardly reckless.

Hundred mile an hours in his car, while taking a pic with his phone and tweeting it...

Where are the facts in this story?  All I've seen are assumptions and conjecture.  Do we know he took the pic?  You're saying he tweeted it while driving?  Never read that.  Where was he?  IF he took that picture himself and tweeted it while driving 100mph on the freeway, then yea that's a bad decision but hardly the worst ever.  If he was simply going 100mph on the freeway and someone else took the pic and he tweeted it later, then not a great idea but not worth fretting over....

That horrendous rap video while he's suspended from the team...

Not making any great effort to stay around the team despite being allowed by the league...

Going to the strip club rather than supporting his teammates in an important game...

Poorly timed marketing of himself...

And his other misadventures on social media...

Above five complaints are complete irrelevant and of no indicator of any sort of problem or risk whatsoever.  If making a horrendous rap video was a problem then Shaq shoulda been kicked outta the NBA countless times over. No one knows the situation surrounding his presence or lackthereof during his suspension.  For all we know he didn't want the bs circus surrounding him to affect his teammates.

Let's face it.  We're not exactly talking about a guy with a history of good judgment and decision making.

By my count that's ONE possible poor decision since he's been here, admittedly a likely at least somewhat poor decision if he was speeding on a public road.  One does not make a pattern or history.

Well yeah, if you excuse anything he does, then there's no pattern.

The story about his tweeting the pic while driving was well known and discussed plenty within this forum.  Steve Smith was said to have famously ripped him for it at the time.

Voth's article about teammates lobbying for him states specifically that "Richardson and others inside the building feel like they can't trust him".  No stretch to expect Dave Gettleman is among the "others".

Spin it any way you want but no matter what fans think, if Richardson and Gettleman see enough of a pattern that they think Hardy can't be trusted, he's not coming back.

How can you say a guy is not trust worthy when leaders of the team are lobbying for him. They have more invested than anyone and if Hardy screws up again they are the ones that will suffer the most. You saw no one cry when Smith left but it looks like most of the team wants hardy back. Thats big no matter how you spin it.

Players aren't the ones responsible for making roster decisions, and for good reason.  Nobody'd ever get let go and everybody'd get paid large salaries (basically what Marty Hurney did).

The guys who do make the roster decisions are the ones who don't think they can trust Hardy.

To let a top 5 DE go just because he got caught up in a scandal does not seem very smart. Also leaders of the team hold weight with JR so they do have some power.

There's pretty good evidence he was gonna be too expensive to keep anyway.

And 'blank check' negotiations put us in the kind of cap hell that we're just now starting to climb out of.

Not what Im saying. If Hardy is willing to do what he says and play on a prove it deal then they should at least entertain the idea. He is worth the risk in that regards. If not then he was gone no matter how his trial ended.

Most of that stuff is irrelevant, at best.

NFLPA could argue events occurred before policy changed, and Rice only got a 2 game suspension so if Hardy gets suspended at all it can't be more than 2 games.

That's the opinion I have. I know you can argue ex post facto in criminal court, but I'm not sure if you can do that in a work related grievance.

But yeah...that's some BS if he's gonna be punished under a policy that didn't exist when this incident too place.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
