Fabian Delph to Manchester City is done...  This means two things...  Manchester City gave up on Sterling and Aston Villa got cash and longer will sale Benteke at sale price.  Liverpool will need to resolve Sterling saga...   Last week BBC reported that Liverpool will need to sale players to offset 60m pounds in spending spree...  Rodgers might be digging a hole here.

Fabian Delph is a holding mid. Sterling is a forward. The Delph signing doesn't impact them bidding for Sterling.

They needed English player...  They just field that need with Delph.  They don't have to pay 50m for Sterling anymore.  They can get Reus for that money.  The only reason they were willing to pay that money for Sterling is because he's from England.

They lost Milner and needed replacement.

Now City can just sign some average English players who will never start aka Micah Richards.

You don't bid £45m for a player because you need to fill your English quota. City are very high on Sterling and want him.

Sky reported just today that City and Liverpool are meeting to discuss the Sterling situation. Think the deal can be done for £45m + add-ons.

I can go on and on and on...  There aren't many 1st team English starters available... most play for Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.  Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal will not sell to Manchester City...  That leaves very limited options...  Fabian Delph will start because he's much better than what Manchester City has...  Manchester City are desperate to meet their quote for English players...  The only reason they willing to pay 50m for Sterling is because he's from England and plays for English national team... That's it...  Not because he's worth 50m.

After getting Delph, they need 1-2 more English players and they don't have to be starters.

They can still come after Sterling or they can look the other way...  They had the same fiasco with Ross Barkley last year.  After getting Delph, City has more wiggle room.

Do you think it's a coincidence City signed Delph right before negotiating for Sterling?  City has money but they not stupid.  City can walk away if Liverpool tries to play hard ball... Liverpool went on a shopping spree with money they don't have.  City has the upper hand now with Delph signed and no one else to bid more than 35m.

Cleverly, Barkley, Townsend, Austin, Bertrand, Berahino, and Kane would all be available to City for less than £45m.

I can almost guarantee Sterling will be a City player next season. You don't bid £45m just to fill your homegrown quota if you can just go sign Fabian Delph for £8m. Makes absolutely no sense.

Money we don't have? We haven't even spent £40m and less than £30m is due up front. City don't have the upper hand, because we don't really give a fug if we sell or not. Same situation as Suarez and Arsenal.

None of them are starters for English national team...

Here's a recent rooster...

They need attacking midfielder/winger... They tried to get Wilshere earlier but Wenger said he's not for sale.  You know who's back-up for injured Sturridge?  Walcott... He's also not for sale...  City options are literally limited to Sterling.

Firmino was almost 30m pounds (BBC reported) and Cline was 12m, Joe Gomez 4m...  That's already 46m...  And Liverpool still needs a striker.

Delph isn't a starter either. City want Sterling for more than just he's English. Their interest in him is certainly not over.

Roberto Firmino was £29m if he meets incentives. £22m + add-ons, £16m due up front, £6m due in 2016, and the add-ons due as they are achieved. Clyne was £12.5m and Gomez £3.5m. Ings will add like £6m to that, but his fee won't be due until well after the tribunal sets his valuation. FSG said before the window that BR had £50m to spend not dependent on Sterling being sold.

Sterling is inconsistent and not worth anywhere near £40m.  The only reason City wants to buy him for that money is because he's English.  If Sterling was from Italy and Liverpool demanded £50m, they would laugh at that demand.

You realize that outside Manchester City, there is absolutely no other interest?  After Sterling price increased to £35m, everyone else just said no thanks.  Even Real Madrid...

They have already offered £40m while no other club has offered. Now they are furthering talks with LFC. City don't give a fug about price. You can pretend they do, but you'd be mistaken. Of course he's inconsistent. He's 20 years old being played out of position.

City have now offered to £44m. But yea, they totally have no interest now that they've signed Fabian Delph.

I never said they did not have interest... Of course they have interest but not at 50m pounds.  It was the same issue with Ross Barkley last year...  At the end Manchester City said fug you and left.  (If you remember, Ross Barkley was on fire the year before) But last year they had Micah Richards, Frank Lampard and Milner...  This year they need English players...  That's why they went after Delph and it was known fact they will sign 1-2 more English players.  Considering that they removed sanctions against Manchester City last week, it allows them to go crazy again.  Express so far is the only newspaper that reports 44m... and express is horrible source for news.

Liverpool willing to sell Sterling, Sterling wants out, Manchester City is willing to buy but refusing to meet 50m price tag.

I honestly have no idea how anyone in their right mind believe Sterling is worth anywhere near 50m...

If they did not give a fug about price, they would already give you 50m...  Since they didn't, they care...

You underestimate City situation... City needs to be careful or they will get sanctioned again... Many of their players left on free transfers... City barely have money coming in and they need many players...  They can only spend something like 130m...  If they spend 20m on Delph and 50m on Sterling... That's 70m spent on only 2 players and they have about 6 more holes to fill.... They need another Striker and Winger, they need another DM, RB and CB.
