Notable NFL writer, Jason Cole: "Extremely unlikely" Hardy is suspended. Rivera wants him back.

Hardy won't be back and anyone who thinks he won't be suspended is smoking crack.  The NFL got burnt on the Ray Rice fiasco and is going to be certain about Hardy before he sees the field again.  Imagine the sh*t storm is 2 games into the season, video of Hardy with Holder/and or guns comes out.  The NFL is going to be certain this time, they've learned from their mistakes.

Remember this, Greg Hardy is an employee of the NFL, it's not his right to play football in that or any other league, it's a privilege.  The NFL reserves the right, as they did this year, with the exemption list, to sit Hardy until they are done with their investigation.  The fact that Hardy and Holder settled out of court before the criminal trial began is very suspicious to say the least.

And how do you believe that the NFL is going to compel Hardy, Holder and the court to give the details of their confidential agreement without getting into a serious legal slippery slope itself? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think that's yet to be seen, but in the case of MLB and the A-Rod scandal, MLB actually paid for evidence.  The NFL is a billion dollar industry, they've got more money than Hardy....

Many 'confidential agreements' are worth about as much as the paper they're written on.

I would love to see Hardy back with the team, but his path to redemption is full of ordeals.

Not only you have to complete all the ordeals but you have to find them by yourself Greg.

Obiwan : The force is strong with this one.

Yoda : An NFL player must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. An NFL player craves not these things.

Obiwan : He can succeed !

Mace Windu : The boy has exceptional skills!

Yoda : Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.

Obiwan : He want to go home and rethink his life

Jar Jar Binks : yousa point is well seen.

Yoda : !

why the fug would he sign a 1yr min deal when he can likely get a tasty, long term contract somewhere else? because he 'owes' us? keep dreaming. he'll get a big deal from someone.

I find that hilarious as well. Drew Rosenhaus is all about encouraging players to give teams salary relief.

And in the fore-front of every players mind?

Current year Player: "Sure, I'll give the team the big home team discount on a short contract with little guaranteed money!"

(Season begins... ) POW! MCL/ACL/ACHILLES CAREER-ENDING SHREDDER!

(Next season... ) Team cuts player

Player: "Guys? Guys? Hello? Some help here... ?"

I know that some of you hate Bleacher Report, but, basically, I don't care.  Don't hit the link, and don't listen to the interview if it bothers you that much.  It's pretty short and general anyway, based solely on unnamed NFL sources. But, just so you know, Jason Cole has received several awards, including from Pro Football Writer's of America, so I don't believe that he is just talking out his ass.  And, he admittedly says that Hardy could still be suspended IF the NFL could somehow get some damning info regarding his settlement.

He also says that Rivera wants Hardy back and will talk to management about seeing if any kind of deal can be reached.

I just thought you may like to know that the site you are linking to supports the molestation of baby pandas.  Every click to their site is another cute baby bear with a gaping poop shoot.

They just want to eat bamboo, they don't need some hack sports writer balls deep in their little furry backsides.

For all you lamenting the number of Hardy threads, prepare thy anus.

Up till now Hardy has been back page news.  Buried behind Rice, Peterson, etc.  With nothing to report, nothing has happened.

With the dismissal, all of the talking heads still get to proclaim his guilt based on the "pay off".  Meanwhile expect to see the Players Union become more actively involved in this case now that the season is over and the legal process is over.

That may well be why you have Rivera playing the "good cop" in this situation while Gman takes the role of bad cop with dropped info through sources.

Goodell is in a lose/lose situation and will move cautiously.  For the Players Union I don't expect them to take any suspension without a fight.  Ultimately I expect a suspension, an appeal, and a reduced suspension.  In other words, thread starting material for weeks to come.

Ultimately, JR was embarrassed by Hardy and that is why I think he is a dead man walking as a Panther.

But we came in at #10, PhillyB, which is still damned good considering where we were.  Of course that means we were pretty much balling late in the season, and might have well been ranked number 2 for that period, so I get your point.  I just think that it would be counterproductive to look a gift horse in the mouth.  If circumstances bring about a good deal---one year prove it, or not---then I think that we'd have a more to gain than just filling a hole in the roster, especially considering another strong class at WR (and, purportedly, OT). But, like you suggested, the money spent could go a ways toward solving some holes on offense.

yeah you're right, it was the second-ranked defense in the last half of the season i think. overlooked on my part.

still, you could argue that that change came up with lineup shifts (most notably kicking norman and benwikere outside and benching white, cutting cason, and moving decoud) and that that lineup could've been at least a top five unit, again, without hardy.
