Notable NFL writer, Jason Cole: "Extremely unlikely" Hardy is suspended. Rivera wants him back.

honestly, whether he was guilty or not is irrelevant to me. for all we are concerned he is just another free agent available to fill holes on our roster. i'd much rather spend that money on a middling offense in desperate need of talent than a defense that was ranked 2nd in the league without him.

What is this dark thing you call 'logic'? Away with it

Honestly though, I think some folks still haven't quite acclimated to the transition the team has made in how it operates.

People got used to the idea that Hurney was gonna throw money at all their favorite players. And if you're looking at the team emotionally, that's comfortable. But on the pragmatic side, it never produced a consistent winner, and it left us cash-strapped.

Now the team is actually being run like a business, and I think some folks still have a hard time with that.

Reality though? If you want to win, this is how it's gotta be.

I get that Rivera wants Hardy back, what defensive coach wouldn't? But sources from the front office, not the locker room have Hardy not returning.

On the flip side it's been discussed how personnel moves are a collaborative effort by Ron and Dave.

Perhaps if Ron can make a compelling enough case from a coaches view to keep him (i.e. he's an all world player) then Dave can figure out what to do from a GM's view (i.e. money, PR, etc.).

We'll see. I've accepted that Hardy isn't coming back, but I hope he does.

I would love to see Hardy back with the team, but his path to redemption is full of ordeals.

Not only you have to complete all the ordeals but you have to find them by yourself Greg.

Obiwan : The force is strong with this one.

Yoda : An NFL player must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. An NFL player craves not these things.

Obiwan : He can succeed !

Mace Windu : The boy has exceptional skills!

Yoda :  Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.

Obiwan : He want to go home and rethink his life

Jar Jar Binks : yousa point is well seen.

I don't think anybody's 'happy' about the notion of him being gone. Personally I'm reminded of when we lost Kris Jenkins. But like with Jenkins, a lot of the bridges were already burned.

Bottom Line: I'm not looking at it emotionally because the guy making the decisions won't let emotions factor in. And honestly, that's the way it should be.

We kinda dodged a bullet with Jenkins tho. We got the best out of him while he was here. He only had 1 great season in NY and then knee injures.

Here's the bigger picture for Gettleman. Hardy will get paid no matter where he goes I imagine. I guarantee you any other team in dire need of a pass rusher won't care what happened here.

Hardy will be a premiere FA, maybe by letting him go we can chase another FA we have more faith in IE JPP or one of the top tier WR's like Cobb or a decent LT.

I do think letting Hardy walk flies in the face of what Gman has been preaching about pass rushers and Hog Mollies tho. I think if they are prepared to let him walk we need to trust they know more than we do.

Just stay outta the NFCS Greg if you leave.

I think ppl are overlooking the type of man Hardy is.

He might be off his rocker a little bit but he is very loyal and has a need to prove himself. Not just to the panthers but to himself. I have a feeling the dude will walk into DG's office and be like "give me a year to show u"

He is a panther. Maybe our crazy one, but ours none the less. (Until March 10th anyways)

Also Hardy should be smart enough to know he has some image rebuilding to do.

Leaving the team who just paid u 13 million to sit on your ass and then going for big money again is not the smart way to do it.

U suck it up, play for the hometown discount. Keep ur nose clean and then things will be forgotten and he will look like a "nice guy"
