Notable NFL writer, Jason Cole: "Extremely unlikely" Hardy is suspended. Rivera wants him back.

Diminishing my work and opinions by saying they are just based on someone else's speculation is insulting.

OK, I can see that, though I thought your professional work was predicated upon other things, but if that's the way that you take it, I apologize.

At this point I don't know what might transpire. I think Hardy wants to stay and I think Rivera will try to keep him here. I think the choice falls on Hardy. If we can offer him a cheap 2yr deal for about 14 million with a voidable clause at anytime and he is ok with it he should do it and prove himself. He needs to show everyone he can be responsible and keep his production high. I don't know if he can keep that type of deal up. Whatever Gettleman or Rivera decides I hope it works out for us and Greg.

I mean, hell, if you poll most of the people here, most of them will say that Hardy is probably a done deal in Charlotte, but most people just don't say it with the surety that you, Scot and others have (pretty much based on nothing besides Bill Voth's speculation).

He literally just said that, word for word.

Always the most prudent and judicious position.

You damn right, no one knows what the organization really is going to do. People need to just chill and hope for the best for Hardy and the panthers. Both has been through a lot from the press and the NFL. The right decision will be made for both parties.

Rivera said weeks ago he would like to see Hardy back during a presser. It is hardly breaking news.

Rivera does not control the roster.

I remember that.

It seemed pretty clear that was a topic on which Rivera and Gettleman did not agree.

In a battle of wills, Gettleman wins.

This is starting to remind me of the Hulk Vs series.       Whether against Thor,  Wolverine,  etc.. Hulk usually won.

Igo Vs    .......

LOL.

I can see how he'd get upset, now that he has explained it.  But, in my opinion, if he considers himself a professional journalist now, then I expect for him to at least name his sources for information, even if he just says something to the effect of "team sources".  Otherwise, all this stuff is based upon speculation.  But, I am not the type to sit back and purposefully insult someone unless they insult me.

I wonder if Hardy is insulted by reading all that he has read.  I would bet that he is.

Too many people on one side or the other. I believe Rivera and Dave will discuss Hardy when he is off The List. Things have changed a lot but one thing remains the same. We will not over pay for the risk that is Hardy. He is either going to have a cap friendly deal or be gone. Before the season no way was hardy taking less, now is another story.

I see both of your sides. Jeremy does tend to scoff at anyone who has a different opinion than him. Rubs people the wrong way. On the other hand the odds are stacked against Hardy. I still believe "personally" that he will be retained.

why the fug would he sign a 1yr min deal when he can likely get a tasty, long term contract somewhere else? because he 'owes' us? keep dreaming. he'll get a big deal from someone.

If Hardy really wants to be a Panther, first and foremost, then that would be the driving factor.  Secondly, if he wants to mitigate some of the bad feelings that the FO and some of the fans have for him in regards to last season, then taking a marked hometown discount would go a long way towards that end. Plus, it could possibly be used as kind of a baptism for the old Hardy to the new Hardy, and as a springboard for an even more lucrative contract with the Panthers or another team after the season is over.

Of course that's a big "if", and no one but hard core gamblers would risk a big wager that this would happen.

What's more likely is that he takes his services to the highest bidder. legally unscathed, and as such continues to be haunted by his past indiscretions and subject to all kinds of media bashing and critiquing of his character, and all that is wrong with America (including conspiracy theories, greed, and all kinds of evil).
