Carolina Panthers to pursue WR Jeremy Maclin and Torry Smith?

My bad. I totally overlooked that, but in Maclin's defense, a torn ACL doesn't necessarily make a player injury prone. Before and after the ACL, he has had a normal career. Last season was pretty outstanding. But, I get your point.

You're right. As we've seen with many players, like our favorite, Thomas Davis, an acl tear doesn't ruin your career. It just makes me wary because I think Maclin will be overpaid.

Over Maclin or Smith really? ?

I mean price tags aside, of course Maclin or Torrey could be better players for us. I figure they both are going to want/get deals in the 7/8/9 mil/year range though. Given Crabtree's down year, injury history, and the new HC in SF, it's not unreasonable that he could sign for us in the 4/5/6 mil/year range. If we can get him on a deal like that, and he could return to his 2012 form (85 rec, 1105 yds, 9 tds), it'd be the steal of free agency.

What about the fact he's slow doesn't get separation....he doesn't add the speed this team needs.. I don't want to pay 5-6mill for a player that isn't adding what we need..

He had speed in 2012. If there's anything I learned from Beason playing like crap for us last year then tearing it up on the Giants, it's that Achilles tears take a year to come back from, but two years to get back to 100% from. I still believe Crabtree could return to form.

I hate the 49ers but Crabtree isn't slow. He may not have 40 yard dash speed, but he runs some of the best routes in the league and gets plenty of seperation. The reason why he has been so terrible is because of Kaepernick. I've heard players talking about how Kaepernick doesn't doesn't talk to any of his receivers except for Patton, which is his best friend. He doesn't have a relationship with any of the players and he has a "you can't tell him anything" type of attitude.

No he never did he is a high 4.5 guy and always has been.. He doesn't address our need for speed. ..pun intended. .
