Report: Panthers Not Expected To Bring Back Hardy

You must not understand how a civil proceeding would work and the differences in what is required for a guilty verdict in a civil vs. criminal proceeding.

In a criminal trial, it is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt....in a civil proceeding, it is ONLY based on the preponderance of the evidence.  This is a much lower threshold.

Even if Hardy is found not guilt in the criminal trial, the odds of being found guilty in a civil proceeds in damn near 100%.

Thank you for the clear answer.  You are, of course, 100% correct.  My question was rhetorical, but it never hurts to have the clear facts states like you have above.

Now, that being said, how many NFL teams are going to be willing to risk signing someone that will likely be found guilty (near 100% chance, as you say) in a civil action regarding charges of domestic abuse?

It's all but official now. I think this is a huge mistake Hardy was a huge part of what made our defense work. I got so much joy watching our front 4 dismantle the pocket. Hopefully we can find someone close to Hardys level.

**I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED ALREADY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT GREG HARDY DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD, SIMPLE.

I agree but money talks and G-man sucks so this is our life from here on out.

And what if the case is dropped and he is no longer considered guilty at all?

Civil suits are just cash right?

For that matter dimissed criminal cases can be reopened or resubmitted in some cases.

I don't think NFL teams would care. Didn't Pacman Jones have a civil suit coming at him and still played?

I hope he signs with the Raiders and loses the rest of his career. Before Rivera got here, Hardy was a flake who barely contributed. Fox didn't have what it took to sculpt him into a proper player. Rivera did, and I think that once he's away from Rivera on a more toxic franchise, his cute "lol Hogwarts" thing will turn into more serious character issues and a lack of contributing.

And this is coming from someone who is actually pretty close to Greg, given that he has pied me.

Wasn't he here for one of Fox's years? It's kind of hard to blame a coach who had one season to coach a 6th round draft pick...

I'm not really blaming Fox, I'm blaming Hardy. His first two years were 3 sacks, 4 sacks, then his third year was 11 sacks. I think Rivera got to him and tapped into his potential. And I think once he's removed from this environment he'll regress.

Huh? Hardy was here 1 year with Fox. Next year with Rivera. It takes about 3 years for DE's to grow into something

as long as NO, ATL and TB suck too.Sucking less but still sucking is no feather in anyones hat.

As difficult is this may be for you to comprehend, a GM is not judged on whether or not he signs your favorite players.

Back to back playoffs for the first time ever, a steadily improving cap situation, two good drafts in a row, one of which produced the best rookie class this team has ever seen, a team on the rise and our first playoff win since 2005...These things are what you call "continuing to suck".

That tells me clearly you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

And if you're going to give a rebuttal, at least attempt to bring something factual to the argument, something more intellectual than "he's fat and he sucks".

I know I'm asking a lot, but you could at least try.
