P.S.S.  A second (or even third or fourth) thread talking about the EXACT same subject is also kind of dumb.  But this thread isn't one of those threads since Mr. Igo's thread is talking about the details of why Hardy won't be re-signed by the Panthers and  your thread is referring to an NFL.com article and inviting discussion on it.

You must not understand how a civil proceeding would work and the differences in what is required for a guilty verdict in a civil vs. criminal proceeding.

 

In a criminal trial, it is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt....in a civil proceeding, it is ONLY based on the preponderance of the evidence.  This is a much lower threshold.

 

Even if Hardy is found not guilt in the criminal trial, the odds of being found guilty in a civil proceeds in damn near 100%.

I understand not wanting to lose a talent like Hardy, but you would have to be an ostrich with his head in the sand to not see the writing on the wall.

 

He is NOT coming back....hell, they were not even planning on signing him this year even if the domestic violence charge had not happened.  He flat out was a one year rental in 2014.
