Max Henson has Trai Turner with nice, descriptive quote on Norwell

Having a story like this on site is a good sign that these guys will be the starters next season.

Not so fast... you must have forgot why these guys were playing in the first place, it wasn't because Ron thought they were the best options. If anyone can screw this up its Ron

How can you not love what is happening here?  Norwell started turning heads in camp. There are kids in high school a year younger than Turner.

I kept seeing the word NASTY.  Maybe we should call the Oline the NASTY BOYS. or NASTIES.  or CARL.

Still can't believe Hurney drafted Amini over Cordy Glenn. Our left tackle position would already be in good hands going forward.

Hurney drafted on need, not BPA. Hurney couldn't handle contracts and the salary cap, so the roster always had holes he could only fill with draft picks.

We had Gross at LT, so why draft another LT? We didn't have a replacement for Travelle Wharton when he left town, so a new LG had to be drafted, even though a good replacement for Gross was still on the board.

Instead of Hurney controlling the roster, Hurney let the roster control him. He was reactive, whereas Gettleman is proactive.

I don't know that everyone realizes how young Trai Turner is. He came out in the draft early for whatever reasons or he could have been even more polished and a high 2nd round pick. Now he is more polished and he won't be costing us a pick this year. Basically the opposite of the Amini Silatolu speculative pick.

"Am I excited that the interior three is set?" Gettleman said. "Absolutely

I wanted Glenn too but there were reasons for the decision. Glenn had weight issues that turned off a lot of teams.

Amini was considered a good pick by people all over the media. He had "All-pro written all over him". Maybe some scouts spread bad information and Marty got duped. Maybe Marty was too quick to overlook his lack of pedigree and football IQ. But with all that said, he flashed with athleticism and injuries derailed the learning process. Amini is a superior athlete to Norwell right now, but Norwell has the attitude and aptitude to play.

If we took Amini in the 4th like Kugbilla it would be much easier to defend the pick. Gettleman has a great philosophy for drafting guys that can play football, not just run in their undaware.

As far as cutting Amini, there is no reason to at this time. We can wait until August and see how injuries/competition shake out.
