Manziel Enters Rehab

At first it is a disorder...at first the body does not need the drug. But body chemistry and composition changes and it literally by definition, after years of abuse becomes a disease, just like most drug addictions.

Once a disease, it is an everyday effort, there is no cure.

The fact that someone is man enough to get treatment for a life threatening problem and the first thing you want to say is that he's doing for an excuse on why he was playing bad? That's low. Seek help man smh

Lol Coolin, if you didn't have a problem with drink and partying when you were 22 then you must not have gone to college. The answer at his age is not rehab, its growing the fug up.

Johhny Manziel not only has an addiction problem but also an attitude problem that goes along with his immature nature. Checking into rehab to get treatment is just a small step in the right direction. His problems could be a long term and constant recurring situation, i hope for his sake, this will not be the case.

Liked this post because I think you have both hope and trepidation. Hopefully these two things are not mutually exclusive and by dealing with one (addiction) he can address the other(attitude).

I will first say that somebody with a tradiction has very little control over the decision to partake in the addictive behavior or not. If he truly has an addiction he definitely deserves some sympathy. However it is entirely plausible that he could be using his situation just for sympathy and a built in excuse for future failure. So is he truly seeking help or does he have other motivations for going to rehab. Only Johnny truly knows. So I will sit back and wish the best for a fellow human while awaiting the truth.

I am not a doctor but from what I hear most people treated for alcoholism do not have a pure "physical dependency" as compared with other drugs such as heroin, etc... And it is more habitual and psychological. Not trying to lump it in with the Starbucks addict by any means but I think it is in most cases somewhat different than other drug addictions. It is definitely a serious problem though.

Alcohol addiction and withdrawal is one of the few drug withdrawals that has a significant chance of death.

Symptoms include seizures, shock, and coma.

Having witnessed both on a personal level, heroine and opiates withdrawal is infinitely preferable.

You're thinking marijuana, which doesn't appear to have extreme physical withdraw symptoms. Alcohol does create physical dependency, and the withdraw symptoms are quite unpleasant. From WebMD:

"Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can begin as early as two hours after the last drink, persist for weeks, and range from mild anxiety and shakiness to severe complications, such as seizures and delirium tremens (also called DTs). The death rate from DTs -- which are characterized by confusion, rapid heartbeat, and fever -- is estimated to range from 1% to 5%."

That said, physical dependency isn't really necessary for addiction to occur it just makes recovery that much more complicated.

Johnny Fail lol..what an awful obvious train wreck he was projecting to be. I believe this is only for BS posturing to blame something else for his lack of work ethic, maturity and ability to perform at a high(not coke high) level.

His potential has capped in college.
