When/if he overcomes this it will be hard to stay on that wagon as the circle he runs with is known for boozing it up and other similar activities....kind of like the Huddle.

this is the first time i have been able to give Manziel even the smallest amount of respect. i do have to admit, it takes a man to step up on his own and go to rehab. its cliche but true, the first step is acknowledging you have a problem.

It was dumb for Cleveland to pick him. And it was even dumber to start him.

 

What a wasted pick IMHO.

 

Cleveland, deserves everything they get out of this.

 

Instead of making a prudent football decision, they chose Manziel for publicity, and of course it's backfired. And I don't see it getting any better (either on or off the field).

That's why I'd personally classify it under psychological disorder.

Yeah I agree, a lot of abuse comes from people self-medicating from an underlying problem they have yet to face or even realize they have.

Dependency varies, but once the person is so called "addicted" their baseline norm shifts, so, when they experience withdraw effects (can occur overnight with 8 hours of abstinence) they need to consume to rid themselves of withdrawal symptoms and get back to their norm.

Pretty vicious cycle, glad he's getting help with what seems like abuse issues and not let it snowball to a crippling addiction.

yea people split hairs between the two words "disease" and "disorder." i've read and heard psychologists call it both.

 

doesn't really matter. he needs a new circle of friends. Stay away from the succubuses.

I'm willing to bet he has an addictive personality.

Meaning he can form an addiction to anything.

It is very much physiological.

These types of people need the help the most.

Him admitting he needs help is the smartest and hardest decision I've seen him make.

I cant hate on anyone admitting they have an issue and persuing help. Now to see if he is serious or if he will treat it like a PR stunt

I hope he's serious about it.  it's a shame to see someone throw their life away.
