That 20% success rate is invalid due to sample size and variables. Too simplistic. Doesn't mean much.

If NE was in goal line, and everyone was expecting a run, why not try play action on that pass? Especially with rolling Wilson out or something. I guess it could have still been intercepted but...seems like it would be less likely if everyone had just bit hard on a fake.

considering the Hawks just ran a 4 yard play on 1st and goal from the 5, I have a hard time thinking they had the right personnel on the field for a slant down the middle!!!

 

personally...I think the Hawks expected the Patriots to call a time out...and when they didn't they went into panic mode and made the worst call they could have.

 

the call should have been pound the rock....repeat as needed.

Yep, run it there... call a timeout (if NE doesn't) if you don't get it... then decide what to do...

I think Wilson tried to audible late in the play clock and ran out of time

Oh yeah, they actually wasted two timeouts. One on the audible and one after the big play.

So that was two worse moments than that last play IMO

yup...but at the end of the day...they wasted too much time after the 4 yard run....and they still had a time out to use so the play book should have still been wide open.

Given their personnel and how dominant they have been on the ground throughout the season, it probably stands as THE worst play call in NFL HISTORY.  They could have won the game SUPERBOWL, but threw it away...
