I keep reading that the Panthers are expected to have 14mil in cap room this off season.

I really don't like the fact that I'm hearing Tolbert's name in the probable cuts.

Tolbert will be a 30 yr old back....who was noticeably slower and instead of popping guys noticeably got laid out last year on more than one occassion.

He is pretty much the poster child for who good teams axe. You can get what he use to bring for cheap

Right, when Remmers and turner and Norwell got it together and started playing well - magically Tolbert returned from injury. Coincidence? I think not

Not to take anything away from those guys, but Tolbert is key to the run game and pass protection

And if you look at the snap count and the plays Tolbert was in for.....you also would realize he gets credit for helping brining back the run when in reality he wasn't on the field helping it.

I have nothing for or against Tolbert. He's had some underrated performances and he showed up in the 2013 season for sure when we needed him too.

My thing is hes not a great blocker, hence not a full back-- he actually misses picking defenders up at all in blitz pickup. When we played Minni, a guy ran around him looking all perplexed,...

When he runs, occasionally he will have a bulldozer or quicker than he looks spurt run,.. Jerome Bettis he is not.

Otherwise hes a serviceable something of everything, great at nothing player-- just a good teammate and fan favorite.

We save 2.4 million by cutting him, only a 1M in dead money. His production is easily replaceable. Just the truth. If we keep him Im not upset-- I like when he runs over someone---although Kam Chancellor collided with him at full speed both-- and Chancellor, whose lighter by far, not only stopped him but knocked him backwards and put him out to pasture.

Stewart ran around Chancellor, and ran through him a couple times-- Stewart gets dumped on because his cap should be like 4 million, not 8, but hes light years better.

We save just over a Million if we cut him because of his dead money situation.

not sure.  the way this reads it could be taken either way.   2.4 m is the cap savings, 1 m is the dead money.  it doesnt say net cap savings or gross.

Therefore we cant argue, just speculate.

However I believe its net.

I say that because if you look at Stewart for example.  Pre- June cut its 13.6 Million dead money, Minus $5.3 Million against the cap.

Post June 1st, hes 6.3 million dead money and plus 2 million for the cap.

So I cannot bet a paycheck on it, and wont go to the end to prove Im right,... but I believe its net.

Tolbert would therefore save 2.4 million net, 3.4 million gross with 1 million dead money.

Playing on a broke leg will do that to a player. He's a big body. An offseason to heal up and he'll keep paving the way for our RB's
