Jake Delhomme was the 7th best QB in the league last year

When you're comparing Jake against any other QB, these stats leave out one major component, the RECIEVERS they're throwing to. Steve Smith is probably the only Panther WR/TE who would even make the team of the Pats, Colts, Saints, Cards, Packers, or Eagles. Our receivers are getting much less separation and the throwing windows are correspondingly smaller. This leads to Jake forcing passes or getting sacked and either are a prescription for turnovers.

When behind Jake had an 87.1QBR and Brees had an 86.8... Where in the hell are you getting your stats from? Jake also had a 97.8QBR in the 4th quarter and Brees a 95.3.

You can't compare regular season stats and playoff stats unless both quarterbacks played in both. Even a fifth grader knows that is comparing apple to oranges. Unless you forgot that the great Brees didn't take his team to the playoffs. Seems they got beat by Delhomme and the Panthers the last game of the year. Seems old Jake had a better passer rating that game even though our defense played worse than NOs that game. In fact until we went to the prevent in the fourth quarter he was having an embarassing game.

it's a little more than "two individual games"...

just because they were in the playoffs doesn't change the fact they occurred seasons, surgeries, and almost an entirely different offense apart under completely different circumstances

Yeah, it's Brees' fault that the Saints didn't make the playoffs.

Which is exactly what the quoted poster was talking about.

Another ignorant comment. Did anyone blame Brees? I said that comparing stats that aren't equivalent are erroneous. And I mentioned that Jake played better in games head to head. No one blamed Brees. But the reality is that Jake won that game with a crappy defense and Brees ran out of time. That is the reality. Spin it any way you want.

I'm comparing all of Jake's games from 2008 to all of Drew's. I didn't even realize the playoff stats were included in the breakdown on nfl.com until I compared. I realize you Jake homers like to pretend the playoffs didn't happen and don't count but the fact is Jake ended up with more ints than tds last year. If your trying to make an argument that Jake is a better quarterback than Drew your a bigger homer than I thought and not even worth having a discussion with.

there's no excuse, and we play in the same kind of Air Coryell vertical passing system we did under Henning, the system wasn't uprooted and created from scratch

well if we're just choosing two random games years apart then i am very hopeful because of how he performed in the 2006 playoffs against the bears and the last game of the season against the saints

i mean as well as we're just pulling poo out of thing air and using it to justify our own biases
