Arguably the worst roster in the NFL? Lol.

I agree with pretty much everything else though. I think the players really do play for him.

I won't say the roster up and down the board at all positions was the worse but when you have one guy on the offensive line who is an all pro and the rest are unknown or poor you have a horrible line. You have a wide receiver corps with no legitimate 1 or 2 and you count on a rookie to carry you then your wide receiver corps is arguably the worse in the league. Surely the defense was better than many looking at the front 7 but the back 4 were again arguably the worse in the league.. There were many pundits who said that we were going to finish at the bottom in the league. And we were headed that way until the 4 game win streak. We were picking in the top 10 in November.

I like Ron, but he shouldn't get an award for overcoming his own faults.

How was it his fault he didn't have the talent he needed on offense or defense? Many of his supposed faults are things for which he gets blamed which were largely outside of his control. Like the he can't judge talent knock which is ridiculous. When you have 3 crappy players and a rookie to choose from it isn't about evaluating talent it is trying to do the best you can and hope one of them is better than it appears while you coach up the rookie to play.

I am saying that Gettleman knew that this year was going to be a real struggle and that he didn't give Ron the players he needed. I think we went into free agency thinking he could replace all the guys that left with cheaper ones and find all these hidden gems like in 2013. But he couldn't and settled for what he could find. When he realized that he was going to stuck with no receivers he wanted Smitty to mentor them and when he wouldn't he let him go. He hoped Gross and Wharton would stay and when they retired he was screwed and tired to find scrap heap players to fill the void. He was thrilled with the job that Rivera did because he knew he didn't get the talent for Ron to run his offense and defense and the team went further than he ever expected and made Gettleman look much better than he should have if we ranked this year. We were a disaster in the making and they both knew it. Ron saved Gettlemans bacon and they both know it.

Look at the roster deficiencies and everything going on around this team. Carolina had absolutely no business going 19-12-1 with back to back Division Titles and Divisional Round playoff births over the past two seasons. Rivera is a very good coach.

I think Ron is a terrible game manager and his preparation is marginal but you cant deny two things: the players will run through a wall for him and hes arguably the best defensive mind in the game. Hes built three elite defenses with three different rosters and 3 different schemes. Pretty hard to do

Can we start a tradition ? Every year lets repeatedly hire Marty Hurney, and the. Fire him over and over until we are free of his mistakes. That way the one biggest hurdle we have had will finally receive the boot, in his case multiple boots lol

Good to see him get recognition from Billick, the former head coach of a Super Bowl winning team who knows orders of magnitude more about being an NFL head coach than the sum total of all the Huddlers put together.

 

Unless someone on this board has also coached a Super Bowl winning team, I'd suggest that you accept Ron just might know what he's doing.
