Lafell takes high road in interview about his parting ways with the Panthers

Yeah, great he is taking the high road. Yet he is playing in a Superbowl with a 50/50 chance of walking away with a ring!

Do you really think he gives a damn about what his yards/completion rate "might" have been with Cam, or was this year with a new QB given the circumstances?

LOL. Glad he's doing well, but I'm willing to bet he isnt looking back on Carolina or his rates :)

You totally missed the import of my post.

He was good, he just wasn't consistent. I wouldve liked him back, especially considering what transpired before he signed with NE. he most likely wouldve been the best reciever here, at worst the #2.

He probably wouldve had even bigger numbers here because there was so little to throw too.

I wouldn't bet money on that.

Lafell didn't lack the talent here, he lacked the focus and will to become our top target.

Even with Smith out a few games in 2013, Lafell had zero catches for zero yards in Atlanta. Olsen had to take over for us. Then after the game Lafell basically said that he wasn't sure he even wanted the pressure and responsibility of being the main guy. That's why he isn't here.

I defended him from a lot of the backlash he received from fans, but even I couldn't anymore by the end of the 2013 season.

He all but disappeared those last several games.

Yup. I don't get how people forget those games and especially those comments

My point exactly.

LaFell had every opportunity to step up and be a #1 WR here or even a top #2 WR.  He did not take advantage of them.

I think he is more focused now.  However, let's not forget that Brady (as much as people hate him) has made a career out of making marginal WR's look good.

I would imagine that he was rather surprised at how long it took to find a team through FA, he probably expected more calls. Surely that was a wake up call of sorts for him. Playing with Brady is obviously huge, but he's also on a superbly coached football team.

Regardless, I always liked Brandon, so I wish him well.

He left, and we drafted Kelvin Benjamin who finished with 1,000 yards, and 10 TD's as a rookie. Things worked out for everyone.

tbf to lafell he should never be called upon to be a #1. Patriots don't really have a true #1. That system is amazing. They lose welker and insert a converted college qb in his place and he shines. Obviously those players have some talent but that system and coaching is the best in the business (with the qb play)

Hence my post. The only difference has been his targets. He's been targeted more than he's ever been in CAR, his yds/reception however did not change. I'm sure he would have flourished here as well if we had a very good passing game.

I bet NE used deflated balls all season because it seems like he only had a FEW drops rather than a LOT.

ive always thought LaFell had the numbers he did because Tom Brady throws limp-wristed passes whereas our stud QB throws fuggin laserbolts. just goes to show how talented LaFell is. makes me respect Agent 89 and Olsen all the more, because they are some of the few that can pluck a Cam-laser right out the air without it bouncing off their hands (cough, cough LaFell)

He was the #1 WR for a portion if last season...and delivered nothing.

This is way more Brady than it is LaFell.

Brandon LaFell was a class act here in Carolina but lacking when it came to being a top notch #2 WR. Interesting that Lafell looks at the WR break up this past season through the eyes and mindset of a player but can't grasp the reason why Panthers GM Dave Gettleman, thought it was the correct decision making the moves.
