Lafell takes high road in interview about his parting ways with the Panthers

I would take Lafell back at the contract he signed last year. But we were trying to think long term. I think the Panthers would have been better keeping Lafell but I could see us drafting someone in the next couple years that would have taken his job anyways. He's a jack of all trades, master of none. His best attribute is being a physical blocker and runner.

I mentioned it before but LaFell looks in better shape this year in NE. Good for him.

I just can't pull for the Pats in the SB, especially after deflategate and listening to how smug they all sound. I really wanted to punch Belichick in the face when he asked the black child a question about her hair. It was such a set up to make him look like a nice guy (it was Mayos kid) in light of all the controversy. If it wasn't for deflategate he would have been as miserable as usual. I just wish fans would start heckling him, id really have loved to hear a few "Cheat" cat calls from the floor.

I wonder how many neutrals are siding with Seattle because of it.

His targets increased (obviously due to scheme etc) but his yds/reception was not that great. His best yd/reception have been with Cam. If he was targeted more, he probably would have been having those high yardage seasons here in CAR.

Obviously DG is introducing the harsh business side of things to the panthers. Glad to see LaFell take the high road.

Yeah, great he is taking the high road. Yet he is playing in a Superbowl with a 50/50 chance of walking away with a ring!

Do you really think he gives a damn about what his yards/completion rate "might" have been with Cam, or was this year with a new QB given the circumstances?

LOL. Glad he's doing well, but I'm willing to bet he isnt looking back on Carolina or his rates  :)

Good question. I was neutral about the Super Bowl because i don't like either team but after listening to the Patriots lie about the way they cheat and their attitude in general, i will be pulling for the NFC Seahawks to win. However,i will not be heartbroken if they lose, just don't want the lieing and cheating Patriots to win.

Not like the corps they 'broke up' was anything special.

This^^

When Smith was out part of last season, LaFell did absolutely nothing as our #1 WR.

He now has one of the greatest of all time throwing to him (a QB who has made a living out of making below avg and avg WR's look good)...and he thinks it is because of him.

He was wildly inconsistent here .....and basically sucked.

Without Brady throwing to him, he is still the same avg to below avg WR.

He was good, he just wasn't consistent. I wouldve liked him back, especially considering what transpired before he signed with NE. he most likely wouldve been the best reciever here, at worst the #2.

He probably wouldve had even bigger numbers here because there was so little to throw too.

Besides Gronk, Lafell is one of the few veteran WR for Brady to throw to. Lafell would have had a similar season if he was a Panther last season.

Cotchery was paid nearly half of what Lafell signed (3-year, 9 million.) on top of that, avant got close to 1 mil. So we roughly got two for one and we needed that money to sign rookie contracts.

Getting Smith off the roster saved 2 million last year but had he not been cut before June 1st his 2015 contract would have kicked in and been on the books for like 11 million.

In hindsight, it probably would have been better just to bring Lafell back but there must have obviously been some problems between him and Cam or Getts would have matched. Not that Lafell would have passed on the chance to play for a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

Oh well. Concerning Ginn, no way he was worth to is or to his new team the contract he signed, but we do need a player with the type of ability he showed flashes of when he was a panther.

Smith was going to retire after this season.
