I will say this:  I have 50 mbps internet, and a rare few servers can take even 10% advantage of the available bandwidth.

 

The appeal to me is future proofing, as you said, and also for people who have multiple users. I currently pay for 20 mbps in order to actually get 12 mpbs, but when anyone else in my house is streaming something which is most of the time, I actually get 1-6 mbps.

Looking at the map linked from above...I'm like a mile out...ouch!

 

My hope is that they wouldn't stop at an arbitrary line in a neighborhood.    I mean if this is a 5 year plan, then they aught to be able to expand across the entire metro area?  I live in Highland Creek, and the map is only 40% in my area...so close!
