So I got Sling today, ESPN, ESPN2, and HGTV alone are worth &20 in my opinion.

App works well. There isn't an app on Apple TV yet, hopefully there will be one soon! I had to mirror from my phone, but it was very laggy and kept crashing.

Roku app works great! It's kind of a weird interface, will take some getting used to.

Keep us posted and what's the fine print say?

Offering individual channels doesnt work because of broadcast rights. TWC owns HBO and Cinemax. Other cable companies own other premium networks, plus comcast owns NBC. Then you have the individual broadcast companies like Fox, ABC, CBS that charge the cable companies premium amounts just rights to broadcast. Then you have FCC broadcast fees that have to be charged.

Individual channels has been tried before and it didn't work.

The only way you get somewhere is with something like this online and very few channels involved. Per channel actually cost more per channel.

If you paid for 300 channels sure.

Who here can watch that much in a given day or week? The logistics don't add up.

Viewers subsidize other channels because of the links of shareholders. Ala carte makes sense but not dollars.

The reason this works so well and is so cheap is because Dish network is only dealing with two broadcast companies to deliver this package.

ABC/Disney owns ESPN, Disney, ABC family.... while TBS owns the other channels involved here.

Dish is now having to pay extra and had to rework it's contracts for the above providers to allow this package to be made. If it works like anything else I've seen involving internet TV, they paid a ton of money to allow this.
