All-Star Game voting needs revamping!?!

I don't know if any of you read Mark Cuban's comments about NBA all-star voting and why he feels that the current system should be overhauled? I agree 100%.

I know some people will say that he's just bitter because nobody from Dallas was voted in and maybe I'm bitter cause Kemba got snubbed. Still, the current setup is ridiculous.

The fact is, fans that are voting are likely kids with nothing better to do than flood websites with thousands of clicks for their favorite players. It's like when Justin Bieber is voted as the greatest songwriter of all time because a bunch of four year olds decided to get together and sabotage the vote.

The fact is, the numbers of votes for NBA all-stars is down, which means interest in voting is down too. That is a fact.

The NBA should adopt a system like the NFL where they let fans have a say, but not complete say and also allow sports writers to chime in too. Make like 30% fans, 40% columnists and 30% coaches. Just not 100% fans.

One of the problems the NBA has, is that they only market a handful of teams and players. They have been doing this forever (Jordan and the Bulls was no exception) but I think it's caught up with them.

By allowing other players into the game, it gives other fans who watch the ability to hear about guys that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. It also grows the NBA beyond five or six markets or 10 guys.

The All-Star game is all about money. The NBA could care less about having the best players there. The whole idea of all-star weekend is to get the biggest names (staple and upcoming) into big cities to play for big revenue and big entertainment. It's a money grab. Why else have fans vote if it isn't?

ESPN and the media like to portray as an accomplishment just because the NBA doesn't want everyone to know the true point: straight cash homie.

The coaches vote is just to appease the small markets so they don't get upset.

Moral of the story: Do not treat the all-star game like an accomplishment. It's just for money.
