So we're running a Spread O now? No thanks....

I'll take Derek Anderson over every QB on our team....Hell even if somehow all 3 Panthers QB's could "Vultron" into one super QB then we'd just have a vultron of shittiness and I'd take Derek Anderson.

Jakes our fiery leader....waaaah....waaaah....waaaah.....It's only preseason.....waaaah......

NFLN was reporting the Chiefs shopping him, but no mention of us. I guess we are not in the hunt any more. Not sure what we could trade - maybe Schwartz, Sir Purr, the BofA stadium, and all our picks until 2015 - is that two seventh rounders or do we also still have a sixth rounder)

I like Thigpen. He would be an excellent backup thoughout his career. Does he have more to offer? Yes, I think so. From what I saw last year when he took over in Kansas City, he is smart, mobile, and keeps the chains moving. He may have starting potential, but realistically I think he's one of those cases where no one will ever give him the chance to prove it. But if he is content to be a backup, he'll have a long career, and I'd feel fine if he had to come in for a stretch of a game or two.

What is so special about Derek Anderson? He cant even beat out Brady Quinn. Oh he has a good arm...whoooo hooo. Big deal. Jeff George has a big arm too....so did Ryan Leaf.

Sounds a lot what the panthers did with Delhomme. Gave a backup guy a chance to start. I could see it happening and I would love to see Thiggy or TJack in a Carolina uniform. Both of them bring something to the table that would be a great fit here with our running game: mobility.

Agreed, I think a lot of these backups who don't always do great in TC or Practice just have a better knack in real game situations, it's just a matter of giving them a chance to play.

I think Anderson is just want the Jake haters need, actually. Nothing like an honest to goodness steaming pile of poo to make you realize that what you once thought of as a steaming pile of poo was actually a pretty good quarterback.

What was Anderson's rating last year, 60? In his big year he threw 19 interceptions. He has this "big arm" but Jake won the QB deep throw competition on ESPN a few years ago.

So yeah, let's throw the team under the bus because some peoples' hatred of Delhomme has actually metastasized into a psychotic revulsion so great that they think Derek Anderson would somehow be an improvement...

On topic, this goes to show just how hard it is to get a good QB. Based on the teams around the league who have better options than Jake, there are four ways.

  1. Have a terrible record so you can draft one. Who thinks John Fox will ever coach a 3-13 team though? Face it, he's too good to let that happen, and so is Jake.
  2. Get REALLY lucky and find an all-world QB in the fifth round. Honestly, we need better scouts because this happens SO often to everyone but us.
  3. Find a QB who has promise, and bring him along for a few years. I'm not sold on Moore, but he could be the next Romo. So can Cantwell. Either way, at least we'll have a winner under center until they're ready.
  4. Sign one in Free Agency. Because there are awesome QBs out there in Free Agency every year, but Hurney and Fox are just too stubborn to realize it.

Oh well, I guess we're stuck with a guy who just wins games. I sure wish we had a stat machine instead...
