Thomas Davis interview Friday WFNZ

Man I just love this guy more and more every time I see him play and hear him talk.

He was humbled to be nominated for NFL Man of the Year. Said being a role model and doing things in the community are "what we are supposed to be doing".

Said he hopes he has a couple of years left in the tank but will play as long as the Panthers want him. Said he will not play for another team.

Was asked if he never made it to a Super Bowl would he feel like he had less of a career. Said he REALLY wanted to be part of the team that won Mr. Richardson a Super Bowl. Reiterated that a couple of times.

Such a class act and tremendous football player.

There are certain guys in the NFL. When they get hurt, they disappear until they are healthy again.

When Thomas Davis tore his ACL for the second time in a minicamp, his season wasn't over. He showed up to training camp. Attended meetings, attended practices, and signed for fans. This dude was walking around with a surgically repaired knee signing dozens of autographs. He would start down at one end, and work his way up to the other end. An assistant coach with a golf cart would urge him to take a ride up the hill for lunch. He would waive him off and keep signing.

I did see some fans kind of pull their footballs back, they didn't want his autograph, he was done. But the fact he showed up to Wofford and took the time to thank the fans told me what kind of guy he is.  Even after his third ACL the following year I felt like he was going to make it on his character.

I have a feeling he will get the award. And though it took way too long, anyone who calls themselve a football fan knows who he is by now. It's kind of interesting, most OLB around his age start losing a step. TD has gotten better every single year. I fully expect 58 and 59 as the premier LB duo in the league for at least another 2 or 3 years; along with a couple overdue Probowl appearances.

Love the character.. so much heart.. so much inspration..

But Cam will be the next statue. I can see TD getting a statue..cause he never gave up AND he did something noone did before.

BUUUTTTTTT. Our franchise will win superbowls. Not every fan fav will get a statue. Id like our threshhold and expectations held higher

Like you know.. a champion.

Sam mills as much as he is a current theme and hero, he is as much of a saint as he is a panther. fug that poo ! That just feels dirty. So much stock in a theme and player who we are only 50% to.

Cam is the savior. Now and in past. I think its pathetic view a player as a theme and motto but is known as a saint. embarrasing

If there's anyone that's deserved a statue or some similar honor since Sam Mills, it's Thomas Davis.  The dude is literally the embodiment of the Keep Pounding motto of our franchise.  You couldn't find a more perfect fit for it than TD.  He's truly carried on Mills' legacy.

Seeing all he's went through and all the fighting he had to do to get back on the field, and the fact he's probably been the most underrated player in the entire league the past 3 years... he deserves some sort of recognition.

Make this man a statue!!

I fully agree with the idea of making a statue for Thomas Davis. He is the ideal  role model type and a living example of someone i would  chose to represent the  Carolina Panthers image.

Even though Thomas is very good football player,it goes beyond his skillset,he has displayed the heart and drive of a champion and has a character that is much more important than a player of lesser character but has won numerous all-pro honors, or other league honors.
