from an individual point of view it's a good thing as it's driven the gas prices way down

 

from a world wide basis though it has played havoc on the economy big time, leading to loss of jobs and projects etc.

Once it drops below $40/bbl the oil industry is laying off 70,000 or about 10% of the industry. But you feel good about filling up your tank for cheap with oil used to support terrorism while our hard working American oil just waits for the price to go back up.
