Panthers dominate 2014 PFF All-NFC South Team

I understand this is a feel good thread so excuse me for seeing a negative side.

 

We are the most talented team in the South, no doubt. So what does it say about our coaching that we couldn't put together a more impressive w/l record? To me, this is another indication that we are not a well coached team. Hopefully, we'll still dominate over the next few years in spite of our coaching deficiencies.

 

To be fair, some of those guys are rookies and got better as the year went along, and should continue to improve.  Sadly though I agree for the most part.

Doesn't get near enough credit. 

I agree.  He may be slow as molasses, but he's the reason our young DB's had any kind of success this season.  Their speed made up for his, and allowed him to "QB" the back end, and make some plays himself as well.  I hated him forever, for obvious reasons, but he has been a very important part of our secondary, and I'm glad we had him.  He's one hell of a teacher.  If anyone wants to second guess his importance to the back end, they should listen to the last podcast that featured Josh Norman.

Id say the separation in talent stems from the influx of rookies and new faces. This puts extreme pressure on a staff as well as the players. The fact we started so many rookies and our lines were mix and match at best until the final 6-7 weeks, it's quite astonishing that we looked competent at all!

Not a big fan of this staff as a whole but I gotta tip my hat when it's deserved.

I think PFF has it's uses. They're great for stats and things like that. Their grading system and stuff like that is a joke though lol.

Meh, it's PFF. It's beyond obvious we have the best defense in the NFC South by far. Outside David, McCoy, C. Jordan, and Trufant, The South is Panther Land in terms of defense. We just gotta draft a legitimate FS and another Nickel (Bene is destined to be our starting corner), and BAM! We'll have a dominant defense for awhile.

This. PFF is goofy. However, a monkey can tell you the Panthers have the best defense in the South.

Although, I'd take Keenan Lewis over either of the Panthers corners, but he's never been a PFF favorite.

Why are there only two linebackers on this team?

There are also five DL though, so they have twelve players but only two LB

Junior Galette is an OLB in the Saint's 3-4.

Lewis is good but Benwikere allowed no TDs and a completion percentage of 49% in the seven games he started this season.

Bene had a terrific start to his career. But it's just that, a start. Lewis was playing at an incredible level before injury. For the better half of a season, he was in talks for the best corner in football. I'm not upset about the picks, just think Lewis deserved a spot.

I'm glad Norwell, Turner & Benwikere got some national recognition. As rookies, it's easy to forget what being the best means & to forget about all the hard work it takes when, in hindsight, it seems to come easily to them. Can't have any sophomore slumps!
