Projected Compensatory Picks

The over the cap guy spends a lot of time on this stuff and he feels like playing time and performance are an urban legend. There is no consistent way to evaluate it other than saying it consistently doesn't factor at all.

Could you imagine a meeting where they try to decide if Linebacker Bs 87 tackles are more valuable than WR As 45 catches? Those discussions go nowhere so they revert to salary.

I'm curious how they did the math on Lafell's contract. I thought he was making three a year but maybe incentives are pulling that number down.

can't trade the comps, but since we have them, we could trade our 6 and 7 to get another 5th.

If we did that, and do get the 5th comp, we'd have 3.  With Getty, I'm liking the odds.  of course,

with 3, we could try to get another pick in the 4th.

More picks is never a bad thing. Gettleman has done a good job of getting solid players in those later rounds.

But I wouldn't just look for moves at the back end of the draft. Certain teams will take late round compensation for a few 1st round draft spots if it suits them.

Just looking over some recent history packaging a 3rd rounder will get you anywhere from 7 to 12 spots in the first round.

Packaging a 4th or 5th will move you up 1-4 spots in the 1st round.

In the 2nd round a 5th is moving people 5-7 spots. A 4th is moving people 7-12 spots.

It's just more ammunition, if you see that guy that you can't believe is still on the board, more picks gives you leeway to make that move.

Mitchell and Norman?

That would be a lot of attitude in the secondary.

I doubt Pit would give up on him and eat that contract this early, but I'm not kidding about the 3-4 "diehard" steelers fans I know (surprisingly only 1 is actually from Pittsburgh) want him gone tomorrow. It's gonna be a tough act to follow for whichever safety takes over for Troy when he finally hangs his cleats up.

Not happening.

Some people continue to ignore what eyes-on reputable sources like Voth and Igo keep saying... Harper was the on-field steadying influence that brought out the best in Norman, Bene, and Boston.

If they STILL don't believe it at this point, they never will.

Which team is going to trade their 5th round pick for a pick near the bottom of the 6th round and another near the bottom of the final round again?
