I don't know where this Chud is bad theory came from. 2011, our defense sucked. No Thomas Davis, No Luke Kuechly, No Jon Beason, lots of Fua. Our offense was dynamic and our defense couldn't stop anybody.

2012 defense was a little better. (still not great). Our offense was not quite as good but far from bad. And we won 7 games which is the same as this year.

It's a no brainer to me, Chud is twice the OC Shula is. What did he ever do that was so reckless? Throw three times for a three and out? That's no different than run run pass 3 and out. We ran the ball better under Chud and he didn't even want to run it.

The conservative offense reducing Cam's turnovers is a myth too. Cam's turnovers dropped significantly in his 2nd season and have pretty much leveled off. Cam is taking more sacks now because our conservative offense fell behind several times and we had no choice but to throw it.

I'm not saying Chud is a genius. He's probably "good" and nothing more than that. But Shula is just bad. I never want to get into a 4th quarter and hear "the Panthers just aren't built to play this way" as Cam tries to find Brenton Bersin down field.

Chud made some mistakes but I don't understand this theory that he was the problem in 2011/2012. And I really don't care who the players like. Cam might like Shula, but Shula is not helping Cam get to the next level. Deangelo Williams didn't like Chud, Steve Smith didn't like Shula. I'm siding with 89 on this.

Finally someone speaks some sense.

Chud is 1000x a better OC than Shula. Shula in his wildest dreams could never have a top 10 offense and damn sure never get hired as a HC in the NFL.

You have a 10 pt lead at the half....

Who you want?

Give me Shula. Chud's offense consistantly disappeared after a half and didn't know what to do.....it wasn't just defense blowing games. Chud was too

The fug?

Shula's O is pretty much ghost the entire game when it comes to putting up points lol

Isn't just about scoring it is about preventing opponents from scoring....

2nd half offensive possession %

2011-17th

2012 -19th

2013 - 4th

2014 - 17th

What season did we have a winning record?

Also, Chud never averaged more 2nd half points than a Shula offense in Carolina.

So yeah, I stand by my choice....10 pt lead entering the 2nd half. You want Shula....not Chud. Chud scored less and allowed opposing offensives more time on the field than Shula has

How many 10 point leads have we had entering the second half? Hell we can't score 10 points in the first half in several games.

First, let's not start off comparing W/L records for OCs. In the two years Shula has run the offense, he's had the convenience of a defense that almost never gives up a first half touchdown (2013) and playing in a division that nobody really wanted to win. In contrast, with the offense Chud ran in 2011, we would be a wildcard team if the defense wasn't so horribly depleted and lacking. You saw how Shula offenses work when the defense can't stop the offense. We don't hold up in any shootouts but in 2011 we did. In 2012 I feel like the offense regressed like something was missing, because the offense wasn't nearly as efficient by then. Even so, the only reason Chud is gone is not because people in mgmt thought he was incompetent but because Cleveland wants to hire everybody's coordinators and they must have confused us with the patriots for a sec. He'd very well still be here today if the Browns didn't pull that dick move, and the only reason the Colts are blocking his interviews is because you are allowed to do that as long as they aren't interviewing to be head coach. We couldn't do that in our situation because Cleveland was offering a head coaching position to him then.

As far as my preference goes I'd take Chud over Shula if I had to pick one. Chud's offenses were much more productive and contrary to what people sometimes imply, having a shitty offense that scores 17 points per game or whatever doesn't somehow make you a better team. What's been more of a factor in close games is Cam's maturation as a starting QB. He reads the defense a lot better today than he did in 2011, so rather than just going with what was called (which with the exception of read option is what he was doing in '11-'12) he can just pre snap to something better if say for example Chud loses his mind and calls fly routes for everybody on a third and one at midfield.

Does not surprise me. Chud wants to be a coach and this gives him a good position to add to his resume.

I didn't like Chud, per se.  Some of the time his brand of offense was fun to watch and successful, other times it was stupid and beating a dead read option into the ground.  But he was miles better than Shula.  His situational playcalling was headscratching at times, but nowhere near going full retard like for example Shula's insistence on low percentage deep bomb plays on 3rd or 4th and 3 or less.  I'd rate Chud a C, but Shula an F minus.  If he couldn't get along with players, there's no since in him being here but if Shula can't call a play to convert 1st and goal from the 1 with four tries, he shouldn't be here either.  Not to mention the flea flickers to Cotchery, passing plays with Bersin as the primary target, etc etc.
