Far be it from the Saints to hire douchebags...

Omg. Wasnt he the one that allowed the coaches to run the wildcat as their mainstay?

He was so awesome(not) the team begged Dan Marino to come in for a VP job?

Good lord. The Panthers are going to be like the Patriots and Colts. NfC South Champs guaranteed for 10 years with this aweful division.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ireland also the guy in charge when they had the bullying scandal?

Maybe he could help bring Richie incognito to New Orleans.

they alread have good guards like Incognito. hope we get a player like him at OT.

Ireland (Class of '91 Baylor grad) was with the Seahawks last year as Draft Consultant. Before that was hired by Bill Parcells to be his GM at Miami, and before that he was the Cowboys V.P. of College & Pro Scouting (Bill Parcells was Cowboys head coach at the time). Saints are hiring him to do college scouting.

His 1st R picks at MIA (Bill Parcells was Executive VP 2008-2010)

2008 OT Jake Long #1 -- 4x Pro Bowl (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011)

2009 CB Vontae Davis #25 -- 1x Pro Bowl (2014)

2010 DT Jared Odrick #28

2011 C Mike Pouncey #15 -- 2x Pro Bowl (2013 , 2014)

2012 QB Ryan Tannehill #8

2013 DE Dion Jordan #3

Palm Beach Post in Oct 2014:

"Defensive end Cameron Wake (4x Pro Bowl: 2010 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014), who played in the Canadian Football League before signing with Miami in 2009, is a rare long-term success story from the Parcells era. While it’s been speculated that Ireland discovered Wake and that Parcells persuaded him to join the Dolphins and reject several other NFL offers, Parcells takes all the credit for finding him.

...

A few months after Parcells’ departure, Ireland joined Ross on an ill-fated trip to California to try to persuade Jim Harbaugh to become coach, although Tony Sparano still held the job. Parcells had brought both Sparano and Ireland to Miami after the three worked together with the Cowboys.

Because of the faux pas, Parcells said he cut off communication with Ireland, his protege.

After Harbaugh rejected Miami and became the San Francisco 49ers coach, Sparano was re-signed. That led to an awkward, damage-control news conference with Ross, Ireland and Sparano"
