OT Will Beaty possible June 1 cuts for Giants

Man Strength

He would be a good idea.  He's not the long term answer at LT, but he is a guy who can come in, start for 2 years while we groom someone to take over that position.  This really would allow us to go BPA during the draft as long as we got someone that we thought could eventually take over the LT position.  The difference is we have the available income to afford his pay grade this year, and I can see him being a target.

Man the Saints got lucky with Armstead... Hardy fuged him up in his first start but other than that he's been lightyears ahead of any of our tackles. 3rd rounder I think.

I don't think they got lucky, per se. Armstead was thought to have high upside, just a little raw.  Now if you are saying that they were lucky to draft him when they did and lucky that that upside is realizing itself, that's true.

If he is cut he should be on our short list of tackles to look at this offseason. No idea why people are turning their noses up at him when we had Byron Bell at LT all year. At this point, anyone available might just be a better option than Bell.

He is not the long term answer. No reason to think he should be. He could be the stopgap between him and a rookie with potential that we groom to take over the position.

i was just using that as a reference, as i doubt anyone here has watched every snap of every player.  I actually think their OL  grades are usually decent.  again, they dont have to be exact, but offers a reference point.

I think people often misunderstand the goals here.  We need a relative improvement at LT and likley RT.  Having Gross for so long distorted views on whats feasible.  Its really really hard to get a good LT.  Its hard to even get a decent LT.

Im not saying throw the kitchen sink at Beatty, but he is 100% better than any OT on our roster right now.

everyone wants to drraft LT in 1st and 4th round.  but everyone said the same thing last year, and we woudl have been screwed if Gettleman did that.  1) we would not have gotten Benjamin, 2) we would have gotten a shitty OT

The reference point is woefully inaccurate. Guys that embarrassed themselves in 30 snaps and never saw the field again are ranked above several starters. Guys that picked up hang nails and sat for 8 games are ranked above guys that played through injuries.

Actually, to be fair, there were several threads on here in the draft forum discussing Armstead as being a small school stud.  He had some high praise and a lot were sorry we missed him.
