Deflate-Gate: Patriots Being Investigated For Deflated Footballs

Recommended Posts

D'Qwell Jackson is now saying he was NOT the one responsible for the original inquisition as Mortensins "sources" claimed. He said he gave the ball to the manager to keep as a souvenir and had no idea about the deflated issues until he got back to Indy.

So there you have, the entire beginning to this story just fell apart. Which makes you wonder what else won't hold up as more facts come out.

Of course it was his decision, he's the person who it benefits. The thing we don't know though is when the deflating happened, as there's so far no actual evidence it happened on the sideline. If it happened before the initial inspection it's perfectly legal. If it happened after that, why can they not find any evidence or footage of someone deflating the balls on the sideline?

You find Brunnell more credible than Marino or Theismann? Really? Not a one of you have a brain region that allows you to challenge the media, especially ESPN, who is unanimously disliked around here for all things Panthers related and their analysts.

But when it comes to the Patriots they must be right. You can't have it both ways. And as someone pointed out, the Packers have been caught over inflating balls.

I am so damn sick of this story at this point.

It seems to me from everything I have heard that the most likely scenario is that Brady and the equipment guy made the footballs how he likes them, the refs approved them without proper testing and Belicheck was not involved.

If that is the case the the failing here falls on the refs for not doing a proper inspection.

The people in the media comparing this to the Saints are nuts and if this were any other team I doubt most people would care.

At this point from what I've seen, the most likely scenario is that the balls were improperly tested in the pre-game approval.

Adam Schefter has reported that the league is having trouble finding any evidence of tampering, despite over 50 cameras in the area.

Combined with a former Bears ball boy coming out and saying that most often the pregame inspection consisted of the refs holding the footballs and looking at the laces, without actually measuring anything, and that in all his time as a ball boy the refs didn't reject a single ball.

I think what is gonna end up being the case is that the Patriots deflated the balls before the pre-game, in the same manner that the Packers overinflate theirs, and the refs failed to properly test them before approving them for use.

Whoooooaaaaaaa now.

there's one big thing bothering me still with all of this poo and here it is!

Take away all of the things you've heard this week that hasn't been proven.  Forget about 11 out of 12 balls, forget about deflated 2 pounds, forget about Tom liking little balls in his girly hands, forget about the Ravens might have tipped them off, etc etc etc

Coach Billycheat told the world that even though he's been part of the NFL for 40 plus years he has absolutely no idea of the process of how balls are selected for the game.

To me, I find this extremely difficult to believe coming from a coach who not only has been around that long but seems to be very controlling and on top of each and every little detail.  Had he just come out and just stuck with not knowing what happened to the balls and how they might have gotten deflated and all that, I'd maybe believe him a little.

As for Brady...I also have an extremely hard time believing that a QB who admits he likes the balls to be smaller and as close to the 12.5 limit has possible doesn't feel the difference when they are potentially 2 pounds under inflated.  2 pounds out of a 12.5 pound ball is a huge amount not to notice.

This.

If Aaron Rodgers wants them as inflated as possible, making sure they are fully inflated (or more) and it makes a difference to him. [13.5 vs 12.5] Thereby, QBs do notice when they aren't at their "desired" PSI.

As to how they could pull this off, I read somewhere that all the Patriots had to do was store the balls at a very warm temp prior to testing. i.e. 90 degrees. It could pass the test at 12.5 PSI, and then at 50degrees on the field, it would naturally drop to 2lbs less. No on the sideline antics at all. The "Patriot" way. You followed the letter of the rules, but you know that during the game, that it could give you an advantage.

i'm not sure if you're replying to the wrong post, but I don't find Brunell credible at all. The guy blew through 50 million dollars and is now bankrupt, he's a fugin moron.

When Theisman runs an independent test and can't tell the difference between the balls, then Brunell and Jerome "Embarrassed by the Patriots" Bettis stand on the ESPN set and toss a football to each other and say "Oh yeah definitely that's 11 psi, I can totally tell," they're feeding you the biggest line of horse poo.

Your gotcha game needs as much work as your reading comprehension. When someone says a phrase like 'most likely scenario' or similar it's usually an indication that it's a theory, not a conclusion.
