How do you feel about Dan Quinn in Atlanta

Recommended Posts

What Seattle has is hard to come by. Think about their secondary alone. They happened to be in the best spot to pick up Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas, Sherman and Maxwell. Some are 1st rounds (could go 50/50) or late rounders (could go 80/20). That unit alone is stacked. Unless Quinn brings the talent evaluators from Seattle, I don't see anyone recreating what they have there. It's an anomaly. He'll do well, but I'm not really concerned.

I hate it.

Quinn is one hell of a defensive minded coach. He'll turn that defense around in 2 yrs.

How so?  This is his first year as a DC.  He inherited the #1 defense and they stayed the #1 defense.

Could he be good?  Yes.  Could he be terrible?  Yes.  Nobody has any idea.

Compare the top 6 players on both defenses:

Atlanta:  Desmond Trufant (CB), William Moore (S), Sean Witherspoon (LB)........after this I am guessing

Seattle:  Thomas (S), Chancellor (S), Sherman (CB), Wagner (LB), Avril(DE), Bennett (DT/DE)

Atlanta has the worst defensive talent in the NFC South. TB and NO have significantly more players than Atlanta.     Seattle has the most in the NFL.

I am certainly not worried about their defense.

Quinn is a first year DC??? Lol the man been there for 3 YEARS.

I hope you're not thinking Gus Bradley or someone else was DC.

Two years: two drafts + two FAs to bring his guys in. He'll change that defense around in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry.  2 years.  2013 and 2014.

Point still remains, they have some of the worst defensive talent in the NFL.

Sounds like they're planning to pair Quinn with Shanahan:  http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/59814/kyle-shananan-should-be-pleased-to-unite-with-matt-ryan-when-it-happens

My favorite "rah rah" part:

Of course, the Falcons have to upgrade some of the parts around Ryan and Pro Bowl receiverJulio Jones. Shanahan has had 1,000-yard rushers in Alfred Morris with the Redskins and Steve Slaton with the Texans.

<snip>

The Falcons also need a pass-catching tight end and another receiver, with Roddy Whitecoming toward the end of his career.

These needs are in addition to their needs on the offensive line, an edge rusher, and a linebacker who can cover the occasional TE/WR.  That's a LOT of needs...

That Julio jones trade and Matt Ryan's contract will bite Atlanta for a while.

Wait until seattle gives Russell and his God fearing self a contract and watch Seahawks crumble.

It's all about economics and luck - we are officially the next powerhouse : we were on austerity and now can load up the lower end with even more talent.

I hope we man up enough to sign Hardy back and find even more talent because we are a mature organization that can stand up for their players.

That's the next huddle that this team needs - been able to man up to the NFL and the media - you can't have the big cat being all sentimental and crying about a situation that truly passes the eye and gut instinct test.

You have to trust Ron Gettlemagic that they know what they're doing.

I'm calling it - we pick another defensive end first round lol

Just look at how the Giants were able to win the bowl. By terrorizing Brady - I don't think Hawks are that good.

This is why I don't fear the Falcons.  We have gotten good at beating the hell out of Ryan, to the point where he's probably starting to look at us differently than other teams.
