Mock offseason 1.0

Free agent signings:

Bryan Bulaga, T: He can start at left tackle and be a main stay for quite a few years, and he does noy break the bank. Makes sense for the Panthers to nab him or Roos.

Knowshon Moreno, RB: He would be an upper echelon number 2 RB, and could easily fill in as a number 1 if Stew went down. He will not be overly expensive coming off injury, and is another signing that just makes sense.

Brandon Tate, Duron Carter and Hakeem Nicks, WR: Tate seems to be coming here per Jeremy, and DG wanted him last year, he will be cheaper, and still have plenty of opportunities to be as successful as his talent suggests. Carter is an interesting prospect who could be coached and reach that huge ceiling he has.

Rahim Moore, S: DG said no more dollar shopping, so here is the big signing of the year. Moore is a spectacular safety and would fit right in the starting slot, he is still young with huge upside and I could easily see him ending up here.

I am sure there will be more guys as well, but this rounds out a pretty solid list. Onto the draft!

Rd 1, Pck 25: Shaq Thompson, LB, WAS: They say build upon your strengths, so why not draft a guy who is in a similar mold to TD? Shaq can cover anyone on the field and plays with instinct and natural athleticism. One of my favorite players in the draft, and he would make our LB core insane.

Rd 2, Pck 57: Jaelen Strong, WR, ARST: It would be a blessing if he fell here, but, with all the great receivers in the draft, you have to feel like there is a chance. Dude is a beast of a wr at 6'3' and would pair well with KB.

Rd 3, Pck 89: DJ Humphries, T/G, FLO: He can play multiple spots on the line and be developed into something more. High ceiling and versatile, just what we need on our line. Though I personally think he has first round talent and might end up picking him there after all is said and done.

Rd 4, Pck 121: Wayne Lyons, CB, STAN: We need depth at CB, and Lyons is a steal in round 4.

Will add more later.

At 25 I know we won't reach at a tackle who doesn't have a first round grade. And Shaq mock is all over the place due to his versatility. So at 25 him, Gurley(wouldn't do it in the 1st), or DGB(I already know his issues) would all three easily be bpa. But shaq alongside the guys we already have that would be crazy and taking a wr in the 2nd would be cool with me. Albeit the left side has to be answered

We have that much money to make that much moves in FA?

Potentially, yes. They would prolly have to be frontloaded and this scenario would include several extensions or restructures among existing players.

I believe a TD and cam extension alone could free up some decent cap.

*-it would also imply we don't resign most of our free agents.

The knock on Shaq right now is that he can't shed blockers. I personally think Shaq is still sitting there when we pick.

Keeks couldn't shed blockers or blitz. I really hope he's there at 25 though. I'd take him in a heart beat.

I'd play Shaq in a Kam Chancellor type safety role. Behind our LBs that would be unreal.

He's been who I've wanted for a while now.

yes, a badass SS would be way more useful than another lb.  i dont care how well the lb covers, you cant keep 3 lb on field for many plays.  even 3 safeties is borderline (i know rivera has grown fond of this strategy).   interesting idea to play top notch cover lb at SS, bucking the trend (trend of de to dt, lb to de, s to lb, cb to s)
