Who the hell would franchise tag a QB? Lolloolol you people suspend all types of rational beliefs and reasoning, when trying to make your bs narratives on Cam fit. Then again its the same nostradumbasses that are telling us what, "Cam will never be...." as though they know for an absolute fact.

Pretty shameful stuff Squirrel has been typing up in here, can't really excuse it at all. Not from someone claiming to be a Panthers fan. It's beginning to become an embarrassing look for this place as the huddle gets noticed more and more by people from the Panthers org.

 

I would think someone like Jeremy who has so much invested in this place would consider that, but hey, that's up to him.

Why the fug do some of you fall into the trap of arguing with a troll?  This has turned from a nice thread,  to everyone trying to debate a troll's dumbass opinion that Geno Smith is better than Cam.

 

 

Ask yourself before you reply to a "realist" poster.  If they have absolutely nothing good to say and just focus on the bad things of any player..  they are a troll.    Actual realist posters can talk about the good and the bad.  Not just focus on the bad,  in an attempt to get other posters worked up and spend 2 days responding.

arguing with a troll is like touching a nine volt battery to your tongue.  you know what's going to happen but it's kind of fun anyway.

 

and yeah have to love the "realistic fan" archetype.  to clarify, just because you cling to an ideology that's steadfastly opposite what's popular on this site doesn't mean you have a realistic point of view.

Kap is guaranteed 2,162,000 per year... only 11.4% (13 M) of his contract is guaranteed...

 

Dalton is guaranteed 2,800,000 per year...only 17.7% (17 M) of his contract is guaranteed...

 

Cam Newton most resembles these two players in terms of actual performance, though Kap has actually been considerably more efficient throwing the football...

 

The Panthers will probably offer a similar type of contract to Newton. I suspect Newton will take it if it is offered prior to next season. If he plays next year under the option and has another 2014...oh boy...

 

If he suddenly becomes a top 10 QB next season then the Panthers can tag him in 2016...

 

Remember, the Panthers essentially have Newton locked up until he is 28...

 

And unless something radical happens, he will be a 28 year old QB with lots of mileage who still needs to run to be really effective...

 

 

Kap isnt more efficient in the sense that his offense is super simplified where he really only makes one-read. Not to mention he has wayyyy more talent around him. You say Cam has to run to be effective, which may be true but if he didnt put the team on is back in those situations its hard to see us winning many games. Thats not a knock on cam as it is a refelction of the talent around him.

 

But if we keep tagging Newton, those are ALL guaranteed, so we wouldnt be doing ourselves a favor doing that. He would get something like 3yrs/ $53 million. thats not exactly what you want.

 

Keep hating on him though, maybe one day you'll be right.

Depends,  if Igo is about quantity or quality.     A few trolls spamming every positive Cam thread,  will explode the threads and eventually give said topics about 10 more pages than they would've normally had.  ...and helps keep the place active,  since apparently 90% of the posters will argue like hell with a troll,  and rehash the same points and have the same argument that they've had in 20 different threads.

If you are a legitimate Panthers fan, and can't find common ground with other logical Panthers fans that right now the future is very bright for this team, and enjoy this while it lasts, you literally might be a potato, and should be laughed off these message boards accordingly.

A lot of people (you young folk) have forgotten that not to long ago in the NFL rookie QB's would come in an sit the bench and hold a clip board behind the vet QB for upwards of 4 years before even hitting the field (Aaron Rodgers)

That was the "normal" way QB's were groomed back in the day.

And it worked well.

So the way I see it, Cam has had one hell of a head start. He is 25 years old and just now starting to hit his stride.

Great for us!! We are blessed. Just sign the man so we can move on and focus on winning SB's.

Well to be fair there is a difference between offering an opinion and just being controversial to be controversial. Not really sure you could consider it censoring if it isn't much of an "opinion" to begin with. To be considered an "opinion" it would have to be at least somewhat logical.
