Mike Tice asks out of Atlanta

New Raiders coach Jack Del Rio had asked for permission to interview Falcons OL coach Mike Tice for the same position in Oakland.

The Falcons said no.

So Tice went to the Atlanta front office and told them he really wanted to be allowed to go.

The team relented. Looks like he'll be joining the Raiders.

and it's not just any OL coach. it's mike frikkin tice! why would you fight to keep him around?

Man, the coaching search in the nfl has been almost as entertaining as the football. Hilarious to say the least.

The new HC gets to pick his own staff. The Falcons should have never denied him permission to interview for another job since his future in Atlanta was in limbo. Typical Atlanta...No wonder the can't find a coach.

Mike Tice and Jack Del Rio are old buddies. They played on the Vikings together from 1992-1995, both retiring after the 1995 season together. From 2006-2009, Tice was Assistant Head Coach of the Jags under Jack Del Rio

and it's not just any OL coach. it's mike frikkin tice! why would you fight to keep him around?

They weren't planning on giving permission to anyone until the new coach was in place and got to check them all out.

Funny because at this rate, it looks like they're gonna be the last team to fill their head coaching position. Even Denver might beat them.

(and if I recall correctly, they were one of the first to fire their previous coach)
