Those of you thinking north of $6 mil are out of your fugging minds.

He may turn out to be great, but we all thought Melvin White was the best thing since sliced bread last offseason. He still has a lot to prove and plays behind an exceptional front 7. Maybe 4-5 a year is reasonable.

He's not going to get Shut-down corner money. Not a chance.

...and I wouldn't give it to him either.

NFL is a strange and fickle place now....one season of shut down play will usually get you a shut down or near to it contract. Play like em, get paid like em....and he played like a shutdown corner and the stats back it up, played like a top 5 CB.

He finished fourth in coverage snaps per receptions.

1. Sherman

2. Davis

3. Revis

Basically what I'm saying is that he has every right to expect near top ten corner money from Carolina...not that he'll get it from them, but someone else would.

He has every right to, but I don't think the Gman would give it to him.

Igo said it doesn't seem like he's about the money, he doesn't sound like it from his interviews and the two episodes on the podcast. So I think he'll resign here anyways.

Seems most of the posts are talking about how much his yearly salary will be when that is really the easy part. The hard part is the guaranteed money which is all that really matters these days. If we can sign him for 4 years for no more than 10 million in signing bonus and not much more guaranteed. His yearly salary can be whatever they want it to be. It can always be renegotiated and if he disappoints we are not our a ton of dead money down the road.

4 years, 38 million, 16 guaranteed.

I think you could go that high if you give him a signing bonus of no more than 8-10 and guarantee some or all of his year 2 or year 3 salaries. That way you limit the dead cap money if he doesn't keep playing at a high level. What do you think?

What I was thinking 10m signing bonus, year 1 & 2 base salary partially guaranteed
