Panthers in talks w/Josh Norman about extension

I could easily see Norman taking a sub-$5m/year deal. Would be absolutely fuging huge for us and our future if he does that. Lock him up for 5 or 6 years, I want this man here for the rest of his career.

Norman is already 28. He doesn't have 6 years at a potentially pro bowl level. 4 years would be better.

6 years $30M, $15M guaranteed and some incentives if he gets all-pro, etc. would be the perfect deal. Would allow us to cut ties with him if we needed to early and if not we've got him locked up at a great price for over half a decade. Just because we give him a 6 year deal doesn't mean we'd keep him all 6 years. Often times, players don't play out the entire length of their deals. And at that little guaranteed money, we wouldn't have an issue later on if we had to cut him like we do with DeAngelo and Stew.

Of course with all this said, 5-8 million a year would be more a win for Carolina.  I think Norman's fair value would be, if he is among the elite, 10 million a year or higher.  Something like a 6 year/60+ dollar deal. (Maybe you front load it, and back load someone else's contract)
