Mike Wallace anyone

Dude, majority of Tannehil balls are behind the line of scrimmage. I remember one game where the analyst was getting fed up by all his throws behind the LOS. He said that's why QBs are breaking passing records and completion % record. If Tannehill were any good, I can assure you te media would let us know about it just like they do Luck and the likes. Don't get it twisted comparing him to Cam.

Also, Tannehill attempted 590 passed and Cam only 448. I guess those numbers weren't important to your point, right?

I didn't start the Tannehill comparison...I was responding to a Tannehill comparison.

To address your points on last season:

Tannehill was 86 of 100 on passes behind the line of scrimmage or 86%

He was           205 of 277 on passes of 1-10 yards or 74%

He was             77 of 173 on passes of longer than 10 yards

Meanwhile Newton was 58 of 69 on passes behind the line of scrimmage or 84%

Newton was  118 of 189 on passes of 1-10 yards or 62.4%

Newton was     75 of 173 on passes of longer than 10 yards...

Tannehill threw 16.9% of his attempts behind the LOS...

Newton threw  15.4% of his attempts behind the LOS...

Once again, Tannehill was more accurate from every distance than Newton, while under just as much, if not more pressure...

But you are on to something with your reference to passes behind the LOS and stats...it is just one of the reasons comparing stats of players from today to players of just a few years ago is irrelevant...spread offenses, bubble screens, the zone read, rules changes all have conspired to heavily skew the stats of today's players relative to yesteryears...

When Roger Staubach retired in 1979, his career passer rating of 83.4 was the best in NFL History, today he ranks 34th, behind such luminaries as Marc Bulger and Trent Green...83.4 would have tied him with Andy Dalton in last season's numbers...

If he is cut and can be signed to s cheapish deal, hell yeah I'd sign him.

He was open all season and couldn't get the ball and our locker room is amazing compared to the one of Miami. The leaders would keep him straight.

so tannehill's deep ball was virtually the same as newton's last season but miami had actual deep speed on the field whereas newton didn't for most of the year

that's what you're saying tonyn

Mike Wallace was so impressive the 'Fins are getting ready to cut him and make rookie Jarvis Landry their number 1...

Incidentally, Wallace averaged 12.9 YPC and caught 10 balls of longer than 20 yards

Benji averaged 13.8 YPC and caught 14 balls of longer than 20 yards

Mike Wallace has not been a real deep threat since 2011...

Tannehill was also on the brink of getting bench and still is. Tannehill hasn't sniff the playoffs and probably won't for another 5-10 years. NFL stats are very subjective that's why playoffs is paramount. The panthers only invest $4mil in WR and the dolphins over $15mil(didn't look it up).

For example, if you have Calvin Johnson you will almost guarantee to throw for 4000 yards. Making the playoffs is a different animal.

LOL...suddenly the playoffs are paramount ???

Too rich, too rich coming from one of the chief 'huggers...

Are the playoffs the reason Andrew Luck is head and shoulders better than Cam Newton in your opinion???

Sweet mercy that's tough. If he's fast and signs cheap VS. taking the chance he infects Benji and Philly with that dual diva/quitter attitude..........

Don't think it happens. Gettleman just cleared out Smitty, kinda doubt he'll bring in another headache WR.

I think you couldn't possibly know whether you would pay him anything until you talked to him and found out what the heck was going on. It wouldn't be hard to figure out if you have a guy who could fit in with our team and contribute or a quitter which is one thing this team doesn't have or tolerate.

Actually, the "hey guys, the Dolphins might be getting rid of Mike Wallace" discussion comes up on a fairly regular basis because every year people wonder how much longer the Dolphins are gonna put up with his s--t.

He's been a head case pretty much since leaving Pittsburgh, and they've never been all that sorry to see him gone.

Yet even with his talent, the Patriots eventually tired of him and cut him loose.

It's possible to get players with talent without signing head cases.

This is his 2nd offseason with Miami.....so it came up once prior. He clealrly doesn't mesh with their QB

While smitty was a head ache, i think it had more to do with the production and cap space moving forward. 10 mil next season and 12 after that
