I think Davis finishes out his career as a Panther and possibly gets a statue. The Panthers stuck with him when a lot of teams would have never given him a chance to comeback. I can't see TD playing for anyone else. I remember when many huddlers were upset with the pick because we didn't want to convert a safety. Then.....we kept moving TD between safety and LB due to injuries and Davis struggled with the transition. TD turned out to be a lot more than a spy for Michael Vick.....The guy is a straight up baller and doesn't get near the accolades he deserves.

Davis is a great story. Great player.

Not statute worthy IMO. No one else is to date IMO

I thought Rucker was a "maybe" and Mike Minter was "possibly" up for a statue but obviously no dice. TD has a story that fits the "Keep pounding" legacy so who knows. Regardless, I hope TD is about to finish his career as a Panther.

I'm very strict when it comes to jersey retirements and statues burin starting to lean on the side of thomas Davis should get a statute. They have already set precedent that with Sam Mills that not only hall of famers can get statues. I think Steve smith gets one and possible thomas davis. If julius peppers goes into the HOF he should get one as well because he will be recognized in the HOF as a Panther. I know some may be against that now but times heals all wounds, I guarantee the majority will fee differently down the road about him.

With all that said Gettleman has done a great job with the cap and we are very close to finally being able to compete financially.

He has 2 years left on his contract.

We could extend him but extensions and restructures are not the cure all's that some on here think.

He has $12m in dead money left on his contract that has to be accounted for regardless of what we do.

As it stands right now his salary for 2015 is $5.3m and for 2016 is $7.8m. So $13.1m for two years is what he is expected to make under his current contract.

If he was willing to take $20m for 4 years you could probably get his cap hit down to around $8m a year. Whether or not he would take a pay cut like that would be determined what he and his agent thinks he can get on the open market. Also you would have to throw some guaranteed money at him which is always risky with an older player.

As a point of reference his current cap hit of $11.7m for next year is the highest of any center in the league.

$8.2m a year would put him third.

Cutting Harper only saves us $600k and he was actually a fairly consistent, steadying force during the last quarter of the year. I would like to upgrade the position, but keep Harper around for depth and experience. The season after next is when cutting Harper makes sense ($3.8m in savings).

If you get a better player at his position what is he going to do.. Play special team....ooooohhhhh no......

something has to be done with CJ's above all others.

 

whats crazy is i would put him in the same group as TD as leaders now. This past year he really stepped up as a leader. We still have a very, very young group of star dlineman.

 

gonna be a very interesting offseason

CJ, Kalil, and TD all stick out to me.

 

 

All three are loved by the fan base, all three make too much money, but all three are top end players at their position.

 

 

Hate to lose any one of them, but's it's not out of the realm of possibility.

If I could pick 1 of them to keep it would be TD. The chemestry him and Luke have is hard to replace. The other 2 can be replaced easier.
