Why does NFL media hate Cam Newton? (Bear fans take on Cam.)

Dude seriously what's your problem with Cam? Please tell me what Qb is a better option? Don't even say Anderson. Get out of here with that. There is a reason he is not starting in the NFL. If he was so good he would definitely be starting somewhere. Who are we going to get in the draft that is better? What free agent Qb should we sign that's better. This is really intended for all of you Cam Newton critics. Your energy would be better spent cheering on our franchise Qb because if he is not the one as some of you say, we are screwed. We are the Bills.

People don't like Cam because he's not like Ryan, Flacco, Stafford, Dalton, or Luck. Those guys stand in the pocket and are more of you're Dads prototypical QB. Those QB's say the right things and never make waves. Cam detractors dislike him because he's non traditional.....he signals first downs, does his superman celebration, and puts a towel on his head on the sidelines. Detractors would rather have a good old boy under center. Most of them loved Jake Delhomme's fiery personality but dislike Cam for his enthusiasm. Cam doesn't conform to the idea they think a franchise QB should be. Cam will scramble on 3rd and 8 for a first down and keep the drive alive, but the Trent Dilferesque detractors complain because it wasn't a completed pass. They assume a QB with athletic ability that can run is, by default, less qualified to be a franchise QB. Stat lines don't show how many times Cam runs for a first down or how many sacks are missed because he avoids them by using his legs. It's why detractors always jump to completion percentages and passing TDs but fail to mention rushing yards or rushing TDs. A truly objective person would include the total offense generated by the QB instead of conviently leaving out a huge part of Cams game. People dislike him because he's a confident, young guy that doesn't carry himself, wear the clothes, or play the QB position they way it's always been played. Nothing messes up mans head like the fear of change.

Doesn't it matter that Cam does great things in our community's? Nope.

Does it matter that we've gone to the playoffs in back to back seasons for the first time in our history? Nope.

Do they ever mention Cam has more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns than any other QB since he entered the league or do they even give Cam credit for the offense he generates with his legs? Nope and nope.

It would be nice if some of the detractors would simply be honest and say the real reason they'll never like Cam. It has nothing to do with talent or wins and losses....It has everything to do with Cam not fitting their stereotype of what their daddy said a QB should be. It's sad than Panthers fans would rather complain about the QB because he's different, than enjoy the success of making the playoffs with a pretty depleted team. Gettlemen said himself he expected 2014 to be a rough year.....I'm glad we had a multifaceted QB like Cam to help make it a memorable year with a playoff run.

I agree. People that don't like Cam as our qb always want to focus on completion percentage and td passes while ignoring a gift he brings to the game that most of the other qbs don't have. The ability to run. They conveniently leave out rushing yards and rushing tds in every single debate.

To be fair,  as far as trolls go..  ours are tame compared to some  trolls on other teams boards.     Trolls of the Falcon boards for example....   Whenever the Falcons lose and Ryan just sits back there in the pocket,  throwing pick6 after pick6...or when he slides 10 yards away from defenders because he is afraid of physical contact...basically whenever he just looks lost out there...    A lot of them call for his head.  It's a funny thing to see.

A qb can work on his mechanics and eventually get a better completion percent...or utilize a lot more quick , short throws and up his qb rating as well..

A coward is always a coward though.  You can't teach toughness.

This is the NFL where every player must produce or get criticized. I mean people were calling for Brady to be benched earlier this season. Calling out bad QB play is nothing new. The surprising thing is that for what he has achieved, Cam gets more hype than his compatriots with similar stats.

Nuthuggers are like a bunch of pubescent girls squealing over a perceived slight to Justin Bieber...

Get ready to squeal this Sunday, when against all odds, Luck leads a very, very mediocre Colts team to the Super Bowl...

I can't wait to hear the avalanche of excuses...

are you really a Panther fan?

Ride or die Panther fan. This guy says what I feel but when you show too much support on this board for Cam you are consider a nuthugger. I know Cam isn't perfect but he is our quarterback. For those who say we need to look another direction need a reality check. You can't just purchase a franchise quarterback at Walmart.

a great breakdown of some of the intangibles cam has

Elevating teammates is something that is often talked about with the quarterback position but rarely explained. The way a quarterback elevates his teammates is by masking failed blocks and creating separation for his receivers. These are things that can be done in different ways, but are typically most effective from within the confines of the pocket. Newton is now doing this regularly, and it's something that is going to make him and the Panthers offense a tough unit to match up to moving forward.
