I need help understanding Madden MUT

I don't care for Madden. Here's why, I want to pick up the controller play as the Panthers with an updated roster. But no I have to play owner, coach, jerk off, and who knows what else. It's like it's not even made for football fans

You probably just want to pick coach then. You get to make roster moves and trades while playing as the Panthers. It's just like picking up and playing as the Panthers. I believe you can turn coach firings off, I'm not sure though, so that you don't get fired and get to stay on the Panthers forever. I started with Owner. It's not that different from coach except you get to make chances to the coaching staff and stadium etc.

You can also do Play Now if you don't want to do any of those modes.

is this game any fun? Im really thinking about picking it up but whenever i do convince myself to buy Madden I always regret it.

the 360 version which I Redboxed was fun. Im considering XB1. is it gonna keep me engaged?

I had to mess with the AI for a lil while to get it to be more realistic. Once I fixed that, it's been pretty good. But it was a pain to fix it because I realized that the settings had to be opposite of what they should be in order for it to work. For example if I wanted to auto-sub the DTs more, the lowest setting means they sub more and the highest setting means they sub less. I had to do it the opposite way in order for it to work. I have no idea why. It was only for certain positions for me too. On offense, it was this way for RBs. On defense, it was everyone.

I also figured out I had to turn down the CPUs Pass Defense Reaction Time really low and compensate that by raising their Pass Coverage. It made for more realistic coverage. If I kept it like it was, it would be impossible to ever complete a long pass.

Also, the backup DEs kept subbing in for my DTs. So I had to go in the depth chart and plug my backup DTs as backup DEs. It's stupid poo like that that I had to fix and I have no idea why Madden couldn't fix this crap before releasing the game and still haven't fixed it.

Really in all, it's stupid poo like this that made me quit the game years ago. But I wasn't playing any other game at the time so I had more time to mess with it. Otherwise, I probably would've given up on the game again.

Its a glorified card collecting game. Sure you can get good cards by grinding out all the solo games, but its known that to have any advantage in the game is to buy points using your own money. So microtransations galore. Even if you were to start out and play against others, more than likely they have all pro/hall of famers at every position. You don't get enough in game currency to do nothing with, unless you want to eat/sleep/and breath solo challenges. Its just not worth it. You'll be too busy selling/trading cards that you won't have any fun. Basically its like fantasy football, but everyone else can have the exact same players too. If you want to spend another 200 dollars on the game, be my guest. I would just play a regular game between the panthers and whoever on regular multiplayer, or play franchse mode instead.

It's a fun alternative to franchise mode.  You create your team based on luck, auction purchases and completing challenges.

Ultimate Team is about all I play on Madden, FIFA and NHL anymore.  Nothing else provides that kind of experience.

Basically, just take your time...and work on solo challenges to get used to how everything works before you jump online.

    • i think i go in the opposite direction of most. my ideal retirement is living in some old downtown area in a flat above some shop or something.  life out in the country was just something i got real tired of. My kids actually miss some of living out there, which i understand. that was where they grew up for the most part. 40 acres with a 2.5 acre pond. it was beautiful, but also way too much (and too expensive) for me to keep up with.
    • FLASHBACK: I remember back when ESPN was just starting--he was their anchor.  They used to show stuff like Rodeo and field hockey--I remember laughing when he went to a commercial mocking a cycling competition in Utah (or something similar--I made that up) and I laughed.  I told my dad, "We may have us a new anchor when we get back from commercial."  When they came back from commercial, Berman was looking very serious and he said, "Any comments by me do not reflect the views of ESPN....The men and women who cycle are dedicated athletes and we are honored to shine light on their sport." (Paraphrasing).  Dad laughed hysterically. My first memory of him--and that was like 1980.
    • Might not have a team without them. Although that probably applies to the Panthers, too.
