The fact he has off field issues is a plus because it tells us he hasn't been getting cut for lack of talent. That could be flawed logic but it's all we have. He reportedly wants a 100k signing bonus which is less than we gave Tiquan Underwood last year. He has height and youth. We are a WR thirsty team and its a low risk flier.

If Jeremy Ogden came in for a tryout and he was 6'5" 320 with good timed speed everyone would go nuts. Especially if all he wanted was 100k guaranteed dollars.

You can't coach 6' 5" and 205lbs..... Low cost/commitment with high upside..... Gettleman has an eye for this type of talent so if we can fill our need at receiver and save is a draft pick, it's worth a shot.

Ahhhh it's a futures contract, this is like undrafted rookies with name recognition and physical attributes getting me all giddy.

He was 6'3 at his Pro day and those are going to be as player friendly as possible. Not that 6'3" is shabby but it's not 6'5". He's got Benjamin speed (not great) but not Benjamin size.

Because he's a 6'5" son of a hall of fame player, who was on Ohio State and Alabama (Even though he barely played he was still good enough to be there) and he was a star in the CFL.

 

But mostly his size and name and potential are the reasons for the hype.

 

He's a risk I would love the Panthers to take

Chad Johnson who played with him in the CFL said he is a number one talent on NFL teams right now. Along with him having a pedigree there is hype behind this kid. Hopefully he picks us over the Vikings. If he goes to the Vikings he will never be his own person always being compared to his dad by the fan base and the media. With us he could be his own person at least.

Not sure.  I watched some of his CFL highlights.   He looked good,  but what stood out to me the most was how horrible CFL defenses looked.
