Vince Wilfork ?????

I actually don't think it is as crazy as people are making it sound. They picked Ron Brace fairly high in the second round and it is well known that he isn't happy right now. He is on his way out sooner rather than later IMO. I just have no clue as to what we could trade for him. Its not like we are really deep at any position and the Pats aren't looking to add players anyways. I would think it would have to be draft picks that we have already traded.

But lets face facts. Hurney and Fox are once again in "win now" mode so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they make a trade involving draft picks and there isn't a player I would want more than Vince Wilfork. He is one of the top 3 NT in the game..

You want to try to trade for him you better get your money right because that's what he's looking for, an extension.

With the Patriots’ season set to kick off three weeks from today, Wilfork, who is in the final year of a six-year rookie deal and will make $2.2 million in base salary, and the Patriots are no closer to an extension. When asked yesterday about the status of contract negotiations, Wilfork said “there isn’t anything there’’ and answered “no’’ when asked if the Patriots had made him an offer that made him think those terms could lead to a deal getting done.

He referred to the situation as “pretty frustrating.’’

I, personally, would love for him to take the Trevor Ariza initiative and go somewhere he's "needed more" (and who the fug needs him more than we do?) but the ingredients in this story don't make a good recipe for the situation we're in right now. We need a cheaper option.

It's probably just as legitimate as any trade thread goes at this point.

The Panthers have no chips to deal. There's no disposable players with any value on the roster, and pics are really not an option at all.

We could deal Stewart to KC for Dorsey. I've heard Dorsey's in the doghouse there and doesn't really fit in a 3-4. Plus KC is desperate for a RB.

I think Stewart is too valuable to trade. He's an insurance policy, a star and a possible starter down the road. We've never had a back field as good as this. If we were to trade anyone I think it should be one of the corners, or even Thomas Davis even though I like him alot at least we have some guys who could fill in. The reason I would pick Davis is because he's the only LB on our squad that would hold enough value for another team to trade for him, other than Beason and maybe Conner but he is coming off injury.
