Ravens tell Smith to take a little time out

This is all the more reason to knock Steve Smith and his actions while he was a Carolina Panthers. It is on record that Smith didn't help our young WR's develop, one reason why he was released. Smith leaves, goes to a new team, hoping to blend in  and trys to play the good guy role by helping Torey Smith. Yeah sounds like he's a real sweetheart.

I just literally posted an article with Lafell crediting smith

The Carolina Panthers owner, Jerry Richardson,GM Dave Gettleman,HC Ron Rivera didn't think Smith was a good mentor to young WR's or would mesh well with QB Cam Newton. You think otherwise,so I suppose you are right and the people that make decisions for the team are wrong. Congratulations on your great insight, how dare them disagree :)

yet another one........you got your proof so now it's time to find some more excuses

it's more logical that smith got released because of money then supposedly not mentoring wr's

please don't respond if it's going to be some generic response like your last post

Hey guys, you are on the same team here.  There is not need for anger and hostility.  Be more like Smitty, and value relationships with loyalty and pride.  Smitty would be so ashamed of teammates fighting.  These sucker punches are demeaning the legacy he left behind.  Honor him.

Lafell also just stated in an article on espn "I played with Steve Smith for the last four years," LaFell explained. "When I first got to Carolina, he told me, 'If you're not catching balls and blocking, I'm not talking to you.'"

So it's not out of the realm of logical thought that maybe there is a small chance that Steve Smith didn't take the time to deal with young receivers if he felt like they weren't putting in the work. That could mean every receiver that came through during his tenure, or it could have been none.

Yeah lets make excuses about grammar to hide the fact that you don't have anything to back your opinion and you continue to talk out of your ass...........

if you would take the time and read instead of going off half-cocked you wouldn't look like a fool

My opinion: Steve Smith was not a great locker room guy, and cost too much to keep.

Your opinion: Smitty dat deal, everybady love him, he good and we win playoff with him here.  Getts sukes.  Nice to all panther wrs ever.

I wonder who looks like a fool in this instance?

Panthers GM  Dave Gettleman went on record saying,"Steve Smith was a distraction to the team" , one reason he was released. Since you seem so fixed in your thought process and like to argue,i suggest looking Dave up and telling him to his face he made a false statement.

There's your proof,so be a good little boy and spew your venom out on Panthers G M Dave Gettleman for bullying the meek, humble, mild mannered, Baltimore Ravens WR,Steve Smith.

I have never heard ONE Panthers WR past or present say that Steve Smith helped them develop or gave them advice. Please do some research and find ONE that has stated it,then apply that logic to him helping KB develop.

this is how backwards you are.........your original post clearly states name one panthers wr past or present that said smith help or gave advice..........i did this, so now you're making excuse after excuse and changing the subject since you got called out......the fact of the matter is,i've never said anything about DG or why smith was released in this threasd, i just stated that him not being a mentor is a myth basically, but you keep on changing the subject i'm sure that's working for you

I stand to be corrected, you did find ONE  (WOW) player that said Smith helped him,out of the numerous ones that played here in his ten year career,so congratulations.

The fact still remains Smith was more trouble than he was worth and disruptive to the team, one of the main reasons the Panthers released him, even though they still had to pay him several million dollars, just to get rid of him. Sure sounds like a swell guy. :)

I wanted to read more about the Lafell article that was brought up

“It’s meant everything for me, man. He’s a guy that I looked up to on and off the field,” LaFell said. “He’s a great family guy. He’s a great individual. He’s one of the great receivers to ever play this game. As a rookie coming in, to be around a guy like that and see the way he worked on the field each and every day at practice, man, it was ridiculous.

Then in a game, Smith was constantly talking. If he saw certain trends from a defensive back or secondary, he would pull LaFell aside and talk to him about the adjustments he had to make.

I get annoyed by everyone acting as if they were inside of the locker room.  I've seen Smith speaking to young WR's on the sideline, correcting them in a normal fashion. To act as if we know Steve in and out as a person/mentor is ludicrous.
