Duron Carter visiting Wednesday

He looks impressive, wonder if its a longshot he signs here

It will come down to signing bonus money.

There are 9 other teams that are interested in him. All of those teams will offer a reserve/future contract with no guarantees of making the roster.

We're going to get a good look at Duron when he has his workout Wednesday. Gettleman will have to decide how much he's willing to spend on this guy.

It's telling that every other playoff team that lost this weekend made their future signings today. Gettleman is waiting so he can take a look at some other street guys. I think we're going to sign him.

I just remember not being impressed with him in short time at OSU. I just went and watched the highlights from the CFL and he looks like a completely different guy. It definitely is worth looking into, and I hope we sign him, but I also hope even more than that, that this isn't gentleman's only plan for addressing the WR corps. Carter could be a huge reward on minimal risk. Give him the 100k signing bonus and see what he's got. As someone else here said, at the very least, he will be better than Bersin, and imo, Cotchery. We need speed, and a guy with speed AND size is ideal, so he'd be a good addition based on that alone.

If he didn't like School, how is his work ethic?

Don't feel like linking it while using my kindle, but if you Google search it and click on the most recent article on nfl.com about his FA tour, it says part of why the Vikings cut him during his rookie tryout was because of immaturity and such. His juco QB also trashed him on Twitter prior to his draft and said a lot of bad things about him... could just be a hater.

His current GM in Montreal also said something along the lines of he's "unconventional and stubborn," but he is absolutely an NFL receiver and compared him to Cameron Wake in terms of transitioning from the CFL to the NFL.

Hmmm, he hated school? Do you guys think that the NFL is not as intellectually challenging as a student-athlete in a general studies major? I would argue life as a professional NFL WR is MUCH more challenging mentally than the average college curriculum. If he didn't apply hisself to academics and learn something, what makes you all think he will flip the mental switch at this level and try and study and learn. All the physical talent in the world will not make up for lack of smarts.

The article I mentioned above also linked to where Cris said his son just hated school and that was why he couldn't stick there.

Chris also said he was bright, said Durin has 130 IQ and that when they gave him the pretest for the draft, he scored a 28 on the wonderlic.

Lol, sounds to me like he just had spoiled rich kid syndrome.
