As I recall, that came from Mike Lombardi, who himself wound up fired about a year or so later from the Browns GM job.

 

Rivera, on the other hand, is still employed.

Not sure any GM should stake his continued employment on Rivera's (in)ability to get the job done.

More often than not Ron appears to be a step or more behind our opponents when it comes to coaching skills. Half time adjustments seem to be something only our competition bothers to do. The importance of clock management still seems to elude him.

Making it to the playoffs this year should not be a credit to his record considering the circumstances and beating a team without a serviceable QB or punter is hardly a laudable accomplishment.

Ron has been on the hot seat his last two seasons and there is every indication that short of an influx of additional talent to overcome his limitations, he'll be on the hot seat for much of next season as well.
