Should we draft a Quarterback this Year ?

You are going to lose probably every game afterwards like arizona did. They had already clinched by then.

You only get 7 or so picks so why waste one on someone that will never see the field or if they do we will lose anyway?

And when we have like dozen other depth/starter needs?

Depends on who is there in the 4th and later. Nothing wrong with spending a late round flier on a QB if we have met our needs for the most part. Cam and DA are good to have, but after watching what happened to Arizona this year, I definitely think we need a 3rd option.

Never said don't fill our needs to draft a 3rd QB. By all means, fill the glaring needs, LT, WR, DBs. If a guy is sitting there in the 6th or 7th, and you believe he may have "it", don't pass it up. That goes for any position really. 6 of 21 Hall of Fame QBs have come from the 4th round or later. Moon was a UDFA and Warner is up for induction this year as an UDFA. I realize those are exceptions to the rule of late round QBs, but you can't just discount a player because he's sitting there in later rounds.

Right now, our biggest needs are WR2, LT and safety.   well.......and someone that can return punts.

The rest of the picks should be for depth.     Get some depth at RT and the guards position.  Some quality depth behind Bene and Norman would also be nice.

Derek Anderson is 31 and has half a decade left in him. Will he eventually want to move on and try to start? Who knows, but he seems okay in his backup position here.

You'd be wasting a pick to draft a #3 QB. Draft guys that will contribute, at least on special teams (ala Joe Webb).

Mr. Bundchen = 6th round pick

Look, I remember us burning picks on Pickles, Stefan LeFors, and Tony Pike. Yes, it made me gun-shy about us drafting QBs. But QB is THE most important positon in football. Period.

New England had Drew Bledsoe at the time they drafted Mr. Bundchen. Drew got hurt and the Patriots have never looked back. Huddlers need to start looking beyond immediate needs and be open to possibilities, because what if next year, Cam's throwing shoulder is (God forbid) permanently damaged in a freak hot air balloon accident. Stranger things have happened, as this year can attest to.

Hasn't Gettleman earned your trust yet? If he makes the call about drafting a QB in the 4th-7th round, I'm going to be excited about what he saw in that prospect. And if Cam does prove worthy to be our franchise QB, there's nothing wrong with having a back-up QB who could get us high draft picks in a trade. Remember the picks New England got for trading Matt Cassel? How about what Seattle got when they traded Matt Flynn to Oakland?

First three rounds?

I don't know if I could get behind that.

Later rounds maybe.

There are a few who could be around toward the end of the draft that I might take a chance on (not even sure if one comes out--he probably won't):

Shane Carden, ECU.  He has a bit of a hitch, but when I watched him this year, I was impressed.

Kevin Hogan, Stanford.  I hear he has accuracy issues, but when I saw him play, he was on fire.

Got an opinion on Connor Cook?
